“Relaxing Getaway”

We stayed at the Inn last week end. The first thing that hits you is the magnificent view. I could feel the tension I've become accustomed to just melting away every time I took it in. The innkeeper and staff were friendly and very accommodating. They comported themselves in a professional and agreeable manner. We stayed in the main building and I appreciated the little lounge area downstairs. You could go down there and get a snack or drink when you so desired and could bring it back to your room. It definitely had a home away from home feeling.
The dinner in the restaurant was fabulous.
The decor was pleasant. Although not really my taste, the view is the main attraction anyway. Our room was nice and clean. One suggestion would be to vacuum the public areas a bit more, but it wasn't a big deal. The only thing I was not crazy about was the bed. It was a bit rickety and the mattress needs to be upgraded. That being said, it was not horrible by any means and I did sleep well.
All in all it was a good stay and I would stay there again.

Room Tip: 'Nancy's Favorite' room has a jacuzzi, a fireplace, and deck. The view is the absolute...

“Great Bed and breakfast in The White Mountains!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We just spent a wonderful weekend at Sunset Hill House in Sugar Hill NH.
Nice accomodations, wonderful inn keepers whose attention to detail is appreciated.
The rooms are nice-we were fortunate in staying in a suite which was roomy, comfortable and beautfully decorated.
Breakfasts are lovingly cooked by the inn keeper, Nancy and delicious!
Dinner was resonably priced and good as well.
Weather permitting, snowshoeing and cross country skiing is available.
We were able to get to Bretton Woods for downhill skiing in 30-40 minutes and had a great time.
I would highly recommend Sunset Hill House for a weekend getaway or if you have a special event that you are planning to celebrate.
A very romantic place!

“It really is home away from home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We stayed this week on a groupon, and even though the weather was against us, we had a great stay. We went up to try the xc skiing, and were disappointed to have it be cloudy and raining the whole time with no snow! Our views of the mountains were hindered by clouds. Nevertheless, the crew at the inn were determined for us to have a good time. We had requested a room with minimal floral patterns. We were upgraded to the recently redecorated room 309, a huge corner room with a jacuzzi room and 3 large windows facing the mountains. It was gorgeous and we loved it! Every night Karen at the desk made us awesome hot cocoa spiked with baileys for him and peppermint schnapps for me. Everyone was friendly and made sure we had plans for the day and knew of places to eat etc... We recommend a visit.

“Charming Inn, Wonderful Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

My husband, daughter (12) and I recently stayed 2 nights at this Inn as part of a Travelzoo package. Karen at the front desk was especially friendly and helpful. We were reserved room 301. It had been recently remodeled and was warm and inviting with deep sage green painted walls and with a queen bed with a white duvet and a red and white patchwork quilt. The view from the room was amazing! We were later offer another room with two double beds but declined as we were happy with this room. Although the Inn was very busy this weekend, our room was quiet and peaceful.
After going ice skating in nearby Littleton, Karen made us delicious hot chocolate which we enjoyed by the fireplace in the parlor.
Later that evening we ate in the main dining room. We chose the MAP plan which included an appetizer, entree and dessert for $35 each. The food was fabulous and the service attentive. My husband thought the raspberry lava cake was the best dessert he had ever had.
The next evening we ate in the Tavern. This restaurant in the Inn consisted of a bar, a few tables and a TV. Although small, the food was good and reasonably priced.
The Inn keeper and his staff really went out of their way to be helpful and friendly, making their guests feel like old friends rather than new acquaintances.
My only suggestion would be to have TVs in all the rooms. We were told this was "in the works." Staying mid January when it is 10 below at night, there needed to be a little more entertainment, especially when traveling with children. Other than that, I would recommend this Inn for its charm and wonderful service.

“Great location! Amazing views!”

My husband booked our stay (2 nights) through Travelzoo as a Christmas present for me this year. The area of Franconia is breathtaking! The views from this Inn are truly amazing....we stayed in the main Inn, and the staff could not have been friendlier! The Innkeepers sincerely want you to have a great time, and really try to make your stay accommodating. I was a little disappointed in the size of our room, but it was nicely appointed and they told us it had been recently remodeled. The Inn itself had loads of character, but was rather drafty and cold in the main areas (including the dining areas). We got the impression that they turned the heat WAY down in order to save money...also, it took FOREVER for the water in our bathroom to heat up as it is "fueled" by a solar-powered system (which we think is awesome---just not the inefficient part of that equation!). The "turn down service" was really rather a joke...but perhaps that was because it was part of our Travelzoo discounted package? It was a less-than-neat bed linen turn down, a cheap candle, and a lovely rose (without a vase to put it in after we took it off our pillow), and although it had been listed with chocolates, there weren't any besides the two Andes Mints left initially when we checked in..... Everything was beautifully clean throughout, and all the food offered was creative, nicely presented, but mediocre on the whole. Too much darn salt!! The Innkeepers do a terrific job of giving you directions for activities, their personal history of places to visit, etc., and are entertaining, helpful, and charming. We would go back at the discounted price we received through Travelzoo, but probably not at full price.
