While I would not quite call this hotel the epitome of luxury, I would say that it was a clean, warm, and welcoming place to stay. I went to Portsmouth to take a licensing exam and was pleasantly surprised by the kindness and the hospitality of the staff. The next evening, after I returned from an 8 hour exam, the staff surprised me by asking how my exam went. This, I felt, was very telling of my entire stay at this hotel - it was very personal and fit my needs perfectly. The staff even went out of their way to get a room for me that was quiet and away from the main hallway so that I would be able to study and get a good night's rest without disturbances.
The room itself was simple, but large and immaculately clean. The bed was large and very comfortable, so much so that I passed out and slept peacefully throughout the night despite my anxiety about my exam. Although the hotel was situated off the main road, it sat far enough back in its parking lot so that you didn't hear any noise from the street.
The breakfast was simple, but sufficient enough to keep me fueled the morning of my exam.
Altogether, I would say that this hotel was well-located, a great place from which to explore Portsmouth (which I would have done if I didn't have that exam!). I felt that it was clean, comfortable, and had a really warm and welcoming staff. If I ever find myself in Portsmouth again, I will certainly stay here again without question.
