“Perfect Place for a Romantic Stay”

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and, being beer enthusiasts, we loved the idea of staying in an old brewery. We had no idea how wonderful the accommodations would be!

Not only was the staff really attentive and helpful, they also provided a beer upon our arrival. The rooms are the perfect size and ultra-cozy. The furniture was sleek and comfortable. The Keurig machine in each room is such a luxury, as is the iPad. My favorite part of the room and hotel was the bed! I have never slept in a more comfortable bed in a hotel room in my life!

It is the perfect place if you want reasonably-priced accommodations that are far nicer than a chain hotel but not as stuffy and dated as a bed and breakfast.

We will definitely be staying there each time we're in Portsmouth!

Room Tip: We stayed in a room with a queen size bed. It was a very good size and even had a sizable couch in i...

“Very fun and comfy place to stay in Portsmouth”

We really enjoyed our two-night stay at the Ale House Inn. The owner were extremely helpful, and went over a map with us first thing, marking all the places he recommended for us to eat while there. He was very available for anything we needed.

The room was comfortable and super clean. It was also nicely put together. It was super quiet at the inn, which made for a wonderfully relaxing weekend. The bed was *very* comfortable, especially the fluffy comforter and other bedding.

I particularly enjoyed the location of the Inn; it was a 10 minute walk, max, from anywhere you would need/want to go in town. The breakfast place and the bar we enjoyed were both a couple of minutes down the street from the Ale House Inn's front door.

I would certainly recommend the Ale House Inn to anyone looking to stay in Portsmouth, especially if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing time in the area. The only problem I can think of was that the bed was so comfortable, we had a hard time getting out of it in the morning in time to get some sight seeing and window shopping in before lunch.

“Well appointed, great location, comfortable”

Stayed here around Christmas while visiting the hubby's family. Can't believe we didn't stay here before! The rate is comparable to the big chain hotels in Portsmouth, but has much more charm, and is much more comfortable. Feels homey, yet very modern. Perfectly decorated, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Was also very quiet and great for sleeping. The proprietor is very nice and ran after us to give us the toothbrush we forgot upon checkout. We'll definitely be staying here on our next trip to Portsmouth!

“cute/unique small boutique hotel in a great location”

The Ale House Inn certainly gets my endorsement. It is a cute/unique small boutique hotel in a great location. It is not a ‘hotel’ hotel with amenities like a pool/gym or room service but rather cozy hotel with small charming lobby. It comes with 2 free beers, which gets a big plus in my book and the wife liked the Aveda skin & hair care products. We stayed in the King Sweet and the room was awesome. Scott who greeted us was very friendly and and gave us some solid recommendations. Also Portsmouth is great mini get away, the most underrated city in New England in my book.

“Best boutique hotel I've ever stayed at!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We went to New England to do a tour of several destinations as a part of our engagement. Portsmouth was our grand finale, and where we became engaged, and it was truly special and and amazing. The owners and the manager (Scott) went out of their way to make our stay special and unique. I would tell anyone who plans to go to Portsmouth to plan to stay at the Ale House Inn...it's just the best.
