Stayed here this weekend and the location can't be beat. Walking distance and centrally located in downtown Portsmouth-quick walk to all the shops and restaurants. Have stayed in Portsmouth many times, and this is the best location-park your car and you don't have to drive until it's time to go. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Some of the common areas in the hallways are looking a little bit tired, but for the price we paid and convenience of the location, it's perfect. Front desk staff was super friendly and efficient. Would recommend to others and absolutely will stay here again.

I've stayed here several times and it is always clean and well maintained. They are constantly updating and the amenities are nice. 24 hour fitness room with ample machines is a big plus, although the sauna was not working on my last visit. The beds are very comfortable and the food served in both the restaurant and room service is quite good. This hotel is walking distance to many shops and restaurants, and the hotel bar is nice and the bartender makes a great drink. However, if a view of the harbor is what you are craving, be aware that the view water here is obscured by an industrial shipyard and a mountain of I can only guess to be salt or sand. The spa services are great... I had a wonderful massage and having gratuity included makes it a great value...be sure to ask for Gayle when your massage! One last word of advise: this hotel can be pricey. Be sure to use the website and check out promotions and packages to get the best prices, calling the 800 number will not yield you the best results.

My wife and I had a great weekend stay here. We upgraded to Club Level so we could get a king bed. Loved everything about the hotel except the elevator. Only one of the two lifts serves the Club Level and we spent a significant part of our stay waiting for the elevator. It seems to move at a good clip, but the the doors on each floor seem to be dragging in molasses and take a minute to cycle through an open/close. I can't believe I am 'that guy' complaining about this... but I have seriously never seen an elevator take so long.

But everything else - including staff - was excellent!

Stayed at the Sheraton with my teenaged niece for a few days. It's in a great location, easy walk to all the downtown attractions. The gym is fully equipped, and the pool clean and at a very comfortable temperature. A little disappointed the sauna wasn't in operation while we were there. We enjoyed the food and service at breakfast. The room and bath were comfortable, but we had to change rooms late one night due to the heater making a racket and blowing cold air. We were moved closer to the elevator where the sound of people coming and going interrupted sleep. I would have appreciated a little more responsiveness from the front desk staff person who handled the situation.
