“Connie and Bill's Romantic Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

The Home Hill Inn was the most magical experience we have ever had at a Bed and Breakfast..We were treated to a beautiful room with a king size bed that you could sink into for the most comfortable and luxurious sleep. We had the fireplace going constantly and fell asleep with it on. It was so hard to tear ourselves away from such a blanket of coziness. We were there while visiting with our family and new granddaughter in Plainfield. And what a delicious treat our breakfast was each morning. We would have had dinner there but for the fact we were visiting family. I would like to add that the staff were so welcoming and attentive. From the moment we arrived we were transported to an enchanting time. Thank you John and Megan and everyone for making our stay so memorable. We have already recommended your Inn to friends and family..

“Romantic, Relaxing and Restful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

The Home Hill Inn could not have been a more romantic place to stay nestled in the woods, with a king size bed and in-room fireplace. The dinner and breakfast were first class cuisine! The staff was very pleasant and accommodating.

“Spectacular wedding at a fabulous location!”

My husband and I recently were married at Home Hill in late September, and although we had a few hiccups in planning (change in innkeepers 3 times, minor miscommunications), everything was beyond our dreams and the current innkeepers couldn't have been more helpful.

Mary and her husband Jon were so attentive all weekend without being too coddling. They helped us when we asked, and let us have run of the inn the rest of the weekend. They were incredibly sweet given that all our guests at the inn were on the younger side (and are big drinkers). Not one thing went wrong.

Mary was even sweet enough to pull me aside to inform me of a plan B in case the weather turned (it hadn't looked promising on Friday - but on Saturday it was perfect).

Chef Peter put together an amazing meal for us - everything we had hoped for. The hors d'oeuvres were spot on, the main course was unreal (due of lamb and duck) and they displayed the desserts we had ordered in beautifully.

Chef surprised us by carrying out two lobster fritters to my husband and I as we were pulled away for a quick photo op in the field out front -- now that's what I call service! Everyone put their heart into the wedding and made us feel like one in a million.

Oh-- and Chef Peter also brought my bridesmaids and me some sandwiches, snacks and cookies while we got ready (they realized that I was a bit lacking on the substantive food given that I was running around all morning decorating). The food was awesome! Delicious cheese, homemade bread, and spreads.

The inn was able to cater to our beer and wine selection, and even ordered in a bottle of Johnny Blue per request of the groom. It was incredibly sweet of them to cater to our personal tastes. We couldn't have felt more like royalty.

We stayed in the pool house which was super private and cozy tucked away in the back woods, but we did get to see all the other rooms as we put guest bags in them. They were all so great - it would be near hard to be unhappy in any one of them.

To top it all off, on Sunday morning when I woke up, all our decorations were neatly put in boxes and locked in the reception area for safe keeping. The staff was amazing! I couldn't believe they did this for us.

Oh-- and breakfast! YUM! Eggs and waffles were divine. Fresh cream from the farm down the road for coffee. Tasty granola... seriously - I couldn't get enough of the food.

We do intend to be back if not soon, definitely for an anniversary visit.

They were so accommodating I can't thank them enough, and there is 101 more things to write, but alas, I won't go on forever as some of our other guests have already left their comments.

“Wonderful Management and Staff that Made Our Wedding Unforgettable”

My wife and I cannot thank Mary, Jon and Peter enough for helping us put together such an amazing day. They were helpful in every way possible from bringing us snacks while dressing, to having plan B's ready in case of rain, to bringing us a lobster fritter while we took photos in the field.

We wouldn't change a thing. The location is perfect. The rooms are gorgeous. The food was beyond exceptional. And every single person we met on the staff was so helpful and friendly. They are doing an amazing job and we hope to visit them again soon. Perhaps for our anniversary.

If we could do it all over again, Home Hill Inn would be #1 on our list. Thanks again!

“Great Spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

We had not been to Home Hill in probably 8 years. In the past we have both stayed in the Inn and made day trips to the restaurant from Worcester MA. This time we made a day trip to dine and to see a show (Lucinda Williams) in nearby Lebanon. We wish we had the time to stay. The Inn and the restautant are every bit as good as they always were. The food (Lobster bisque, Mushroom toasts, Venison, Monkfish and Peach Bourbon pie) was absolutrely wonderful. The chef has to be counted among the best in New England. The Inn iteslf looked magical. The property has the carefully cropped patina of aged dignity. It is the art displayed on the walls that elevates the Inn to among the top of all counrty retreats in the US. Home Hill Inn is among the few places in the US that presents 200 years of architectural and artistic history in an elegent, unpretentious and beautiful way.
