“Lack of attention to details”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Overall our stay was comfortable and the inn-keepers were friendly. Lots of towels and we were able to control the heat to our liking. The bed was comfortable and clean. "Rustic" is good but some attention to bath controls and curtain hanger would have suggested an effort was being made. I have had better and more substantial hot breakfasts at locations not billed as b&bs but provided as complimentary. Details make the difference and having stayed in numerous b&b over the years the norm seems to be drains in tub and sink that drain quickly enough to handle running water; stoppers for bath tub that work - having to use a wash cloth to hold water for a bath hardly seems right; facial tissue and shampoo supplied; clean wine glasses for second day; weak coffee too . Two and one half stars a better rating.

Room Tip: Mt. Cranmore a large room.

“What a nice weekend in North Conway!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

We went to the Old Red Inn in early November for our annual "Christmas shopping" getaway. Not only did we get a large part of our shopping done in the shops in North Conway and Settlers Green, we had a lovely weekend at the Inn. The Inn is located conveniently between the village and the outlets. It was decorated beautifully for the fall season and was very welcoming. Our room was spacious, lovely, VERY clean and homey. But the innkeepers are what will bring us back for another stay. Sue and Richard are SO hospitable - the perfect innkeepers who treated us like family. And the breakfasts (our favorite meal!) were freshly homemade, varied, plentiful, and simply delicious. We SO enjoyed our stay and are trying to figure out when we can return!!

“Skip this one--clearly disappointing.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We stayed in one of the cottages and I would never go back. Too rustic, bathroom too small, beds squeaked and were not very comfortable, decorations need a lot of help. Cobwebs everywhere--cheaply decorated. This is one place that could stand some renovation. Breakfast portions were small, and coffee was weak. Kuerig machine was available but Susan said it would blow the circuit if it was plugged in with the teapot. So fix it! She clearly did not want us to use it--said it was for decaf only even though regular coffee was in the bowl--and should have been in there. Another woman in the breakfast room stated she thought the coffee was very weak. Good location but that's about it!

Room Tip: Go to the hotels down the street--you'll have much better value for your money.

“Good Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

We stayed here in early September, the location for shopping and local attractions was excellent. Due to their storm (Irene) a few roads were closed, this was to be expected. The cottages were very rustic and need updating. The hosts were very warm and friendly with one of the breakfast we have ever eaten. Everything homemade and right from the oven. Yummy!!!!!!!

“our home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

This is our 3rd year at the Old Red Inn and Cottages and we love our "home away from home". It is so nice to be able to rent a pet friendly cottage that we can enjoy along with our dog. Hiking trails and shopping are both nearby as well as great restaurants. Richard and Susan are now like family to us and we look forward to our frequent visits throughout the year. Susan cooks an awesome breakfast every morning! The cottages are clean, cute and comfortable and the swimming pool is an added bonus that we love. Richard and Susan both work very hard to maintain this very successful business and we appreciate their efforts. Jim and Sandy (and Sadie Mae!)
