“Not good if you have children/rooms downstairs are depressing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

The Kearsage Inn was recommended by my neighbor, who doesn't have children. For a couple, the rooms upstairs are quaint and cute, and would offer a good experience. The hotel is nicely located. For anyone with children however (especially active boys), I would encourage to seek out other accommodations. The walls are thin, so any amount of horseplay will most likely be heard by your neighbors.
We stayed in the room downstairs (they accept small animals), and the room was pretty depressing (not nearly as nice as upstairs). The rooms downstairs are dark and dingy and I would not recommend those at all for anyone.
Summary: nice for couples only, but make sure you stay upstairs.

Room Tip: Choose an upstairs room

“A Great Stay for Couples”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

After searching many of the hotels and inns in North Conway for the best deal, my partner and I stumbled upon the Kearsarge Inn. With the pictures certainly upstaging many of the cheap motels in the area and the fabulous reviews, we decided to give it a shot. We went during a slow week, so there were very few cars parked outside of the inn and it seemed like we had the place to ourselves. We could park right outside the back door and our room was just a staircase and a hallway away (we had room 7). I loved how cozy the inn was, feeling deliciously historic yet very accommodating as well. Our room, while furnished with antiques, was very comfortable and contained the right modern touches where it counted. The bathroom was very spacious and clean (though lacking in shelves to put toiletries), the bed was large, and, perhaps the best feature, the gas fireplace in the room was a great source of heat in the bitter cold of January. We only stayed for one night, so I cannot speak directly of the quality of the cleaning services, but our room was spotless when we checked in and it seems many of the complaints of uncleanliness in the inn were just rare incidents or from overly fastidious guests.

The reason I did not give the Inn the full 5 stars is because the bed was rather uncomfortable, I woke up with a sore back and I am only 21, so it certainly was not just a result of old age. There was a lack of surfaces to put items, such as bedside tables, shelves, and desks, many of my packed items ended up on the floor. The breakfast, while suitable for me, was limited (however there are many great breakfast places in North Conway!). Finally, we did get the room at a $20 discount through smart online shopping and while I would give the inn five stars at the rate we paid, at the standard rate, I would not be so gracious.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience, very affordable, and very cozy. Perfect for couples looking for a romantic place to stay and perfect for those like me who treat hotels and inns as a place to spend the night and not necessarily as a place to spend the day. Nothing better than coming "home" to a warm fireplace. I would definitely go there next time I visit North Conway and I encourage others to give it a try themselves.

“Clean, Quiet, Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We have been going to North Conway for either Thanksgiving or Christmas every year since 2008, always staying at Stonehurst Manor. Last year we were taking a side street and noticed the Kearsarge Inn. We liked the location and did some more research on-line. In September we booked Room 7, a Deluxe Room, at the 3 nights for the price of 2 offer available certain times of the year. One of the 4 office people called me the day before Thanksgiving to check to see what time we would be arriving just in order to explain where the keys and welcome letter would be just in case the office was closed. We actually made it there by 1:30 pm on Thanksgiving and were warmly greeted. The moment we walked into the room we knew we made the right choice. The Inn was completely gutted in 2002 and updated with the main staircased and floors still remaining. Even after 9 years the Inn smelled fresh and clean as well as looked clean. The room is furnished in period style with some antiques. Each room is heated by a gas fireplace. Those that want to visit in the summer will find an air conditioner as well. We were also allowed to look at other rooms that were awaiting guests to arrive which was nice as it gave us the ability to see what a higher price would get you. Room 7 is large enough for 4 people and definitely plenty for 2 people. You can see Mount Cranmore out this room's windows. The bed and pillows were comfortable. There were no clanging heat pipes and being that we were on the second floor we had no one walking over our heads. The water was hot at all times of the day. Coffee, tea and orange juice are available every morning. No breakfast is reflected in the price. We were able to explore a variety of breakfast options from the bakery next door behind the Inn to Priscilla's within walking distance. Dinner at Horsefeather's was terrific as well.

Other rooms we viewed were Room 8 which is about the same size as room 9 but without mountain views. We look to try Room 9 which was next to our room but about twice the size and includes a deck as we may be back with our kids.

At first I would have said the only down side was that breakfast was not included but when we compared the prices of hotels in the area with breakfast included we found the cost of 3 nights for the price of 2 nights to be much less. It also gave us the opportunity to try new places to eat and check out the shops.

One hint for eating out: consider ordering one appetizer and then also splitting one meal. We did this at three different establishments. Without having to ask, our meals came out plated separately which was quite nice that we did not have to physically split the meal. For a very busy time of year we have to say North Conway is very friendly to its visitors.

Room Tip: We did not check out the first floor rooms as we were not interested in taking the chance there were...

“Comfort and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

The Kearsarge in is a great place to stay if you are visitng North Conway, NH. The rooms are nicely decorated, clean, and comfortable. Not to mention, there was a fireplace and a spa tub in the room. What a nice way to relax at the end of the day. The staff was most pleasant and helpful.

You can't beat the location of the inn. It is half a block from the main street and within easy walking distance of the entire town. The outlet malls are just a couple of minutes drive down the street. You can park you car and forget about it during your stay.

Room Tip: Room 12 was in the back in its own building. It has a spa tub, fireplace, and pull out sofa.

“Great location, huge room, friendly owner!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

We have just returned from two weeks in New England, one night of which was spent at Kearsage Inn at North Conway.

We found the Inn easily as it is located just off the main road in North Conway and is just opposite Conway Scneic RailRoad Station. The location itself is fantastic as it is five minutes away from the outlet malls, two minutes from the RailRoad and a couple of minutes from a number of local restaurants.

The room we stayed in was huge with a massive bed, extremely efficient air con, a fireplace and the largest bathroom of our trip. Thr bed was perfect and the room large enough to accomodate all the shopping that the other half did at the outlet malls!

We spoke to the owner in the evening who recommended a fabulous restaurant (Muddy Moose) nearby where we had a great meal in a brilliant atmosphere! The owner and staff were very friendly, extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

The Inn has alot of off road parking so we were able to almost drive up to the front door to our room to unload the cases which was fantastic.

All in all a great stay in a brilliant location with a friendly owner.
