We drove up to New Hampshire to attend a wedding at the mountain. We had booked a couple months earlier which after haggling with the person who setup the reservation to allow us to stay one night, which they mandate a 2 night minimum. Got our confirmation email from them showing the 1 night, the night that we arrived. We get to the front desk and they cannot find our reservation. States they had us setup to arrive the prior day. We advised that that was incorrect. The front desk advised us that they charged us for the prior nights stay, but had openings for that night, so she booked us in while we waited for the manager Kevin to come over from the resort across the street. Kevin arrives and says that the booking was guarenteed, so we were charged. We did not bring the confirmation with us, and with a 1/2 hour to get ready for the wedding, we didn't have much time to argue. This resulted in us paying $189.00 per night, which turned out to be a $400.00 room for the night. We arrived home and found the e-mail confirmation, confirmed that we were in fact correct, and then forwarded it bestwestern customer service and the hotel itself. Best Western responds that the motel is privately owned, and we should get a response from the resort. We in fact did, Kevin disregarded the confirmation, stating they had 2 nights in their system, so we are out of luck. I'm sure that our credit card company will do a charge back given we never signed for the night we were charged and we have the confirmation. I will not go back. Now onto the property.
The hotel is clean but dated. It is not worth $189.00 a night. It's probably a $89.99 a night hotel, but due to them having a monopoly in the area (resort across the street is owned by them), people will pay. Didn't eat the breakfast nor use the pool as we wanted to get out of there. I'd stay away and stay in West Lebanon at the Belmont before going back here.
