I arrived on a Saturday night, and it was almost impossible to find the hotel from the road (in fact, one of the other guests or employees cut me off as I was trying to find it, which ticked off this tired driver). Check-in was thankfully quick, and I went to my room, which turned out to be right in front of the parking lot (since the curtains were open, an elderly couple got a good look into my room as I was unpacking since they parked right in front of the window).
The room itself was a little run-down - stained carpet, scratched furniture, and a bedspread from the mid-70's. And I know that we're in the computer age now, but a phone book would have been nice.
A few things kept me from getting a good night's sleep: there was some sort of noise in the room that turned out to be the mini-fridge's cooling system (the fridge is a plus, but the noise was not). I was also on the first floor and, due to poor sound absorption, I had to listen to the upstairs guest clomp around until 1AM. Finally, I assumed that the hotel was no-smoking, but the smell of smoke in the room was so pervasive that it was nauseating. I suppose that if I had noseplugs and earplugs, it would have been a fine night's sleep. However, I was so uncomfortable that I was ready to leave the hotel. Granted, I could have complained to the front desk but, at that point, I think it would have done more harm than good.
I did enjoy a shower and their complimentary breakfast the next day (which was the usual fare of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, etc.) which was quite good. I did have to wait at the desk to check-out because it appeared that the clerk was doing double-duty keeping the food stocked (I felt kind of bad).
I know that one shouldn't expect four-star lodgings at the Comfort Inn, but this location fell far below even their standards, which, as I mentioned in the title, was extremely disappointing.
