I checked in to this hotel, one of the low-service Marriott brands, not expecting very much. However, I was pleased.
Staff friendly, accommodating, and helpful (not a typical New England trait). Free internet was fast, and lighting at the work-desk was good for this workaholic. Desk chair: seems to be a Marriott theme..uncomfortable, and not ergonomic.
Parking was ample, and well-lit. Very close to MHT airport...near the end of a runway, which could be problematic if the winds are wrong and you're a light sleeper. I am one, and noticed no planes on the night I stayed. Landmark across the street is a Lowe's, and there's also a Courtyard hotel next door.
This is a home-concept hotel, so they try to have "homely" things, such as conservative/bland artwork, less-than-inspiring bathrooms, and a kitchenette with pots and pans, and a fridge. Definitely look elsewhere if you need furniture pampering, organic bath salts, and granite for your bath surfaces. However, if you just need a comfy, clean and Marriott-consistent place to stay, this place hits the spot. Found the showerhead a very nice surprise...better than most.
There are several restaurants in walking distance, should you take the airport shuttle (Uno Pizza, Famous Dave's, Olive Garden, to name a few). Hotel is certainly not in downtown Manchester, but what is? "Mall of New Hampshire" is walking distance, about 1km away, for any tax-free shopping junkies.
Checkout was easy, and there were some light breakfast-y things available: fruit, breakfast bars, coffee, and oatmeal. You could certainly hit up the Friendly's up the street if you crave a full breakfast. The in-hotel market seemed stocked with foods and sundries for most needs.
I'd stay again. This place beats the Fairfield Inn up the street rather handily... ahem, Marriott corporate-people please take notice from this Platinum traveler... I would usually expect better from the Fairfield, and this hotel is much nicer! Definitely reserve this one over the nearby Fairfield Inn or Holiday Inn if the rates are comparable.
