The thayers inn has a great location and friendly staff. There is a lot of history in this area including the inn. The location to downtown Littleton but also to other tourist sites in northern nh. The prices are very competitive.

So we were on a leisurely vacation as are probably most people traveling through Littleton, NH. What is with the 10:30 check out time? We had stopped and considered a stay at the Thayers Inn, Asked for rates. $125 plus tax seemed a little high for a Sunday night at the end of the season, when all the leaves had dropped from the trees and not much going on in town. But we were willing to try it out as I love historic buildings and thought the experience would be good. We walked through the hotel and it seemed ok. It was just a little worn out and not real clean, and the lobby looked like it had been furnished from goodwill, but not a deal it is an old hotel, it was the ambiance we were interested in. I pulled out my credit card and was ready to pay when I noticed the 10:30 check out time. When I am on vacation I don't really like to rush. So we asked the front desk attendant( who wasn't friendly and should maybe be working a back of the house position) if it would be possible to extend check out to maybe 11am. Her answer, "NO". I put my card back in my wallet and we left, drove up the road a block to the Littleton Motel("The first Hotel In New Hampshire"), had an excellent stay at a perfect, clean, nicely appointed motel and the price was way less too! They btw were just fine with a 11am checkout and the front desk staff was super friendly!

I've read other reviews and they are all true when they say the place is tired and the staff does not seem like they want to be there at all. There was no friendly assistance from the people at the front desk, they just did their job and didn't even smile while doing that. We had a better conversation the next morning, while eating our continental breakfast, with another couple who was staying there! They were the highlight of our visit. Not the house, the room, the staff or the breakfast. I won't go back again and will advise my friends not to stay at the Thayers Inn!

We appreciated the historical nature of Thayers Inn and were willing to accept the slanted floors and retrofited safety features but the staff just did not seem to want to be there. One of the expected benefits of an INN is the more personal approach of the staff and its employees. Definately not the case at the INN. They were not rude, just not interested. As well, the "continental breakfast" was well... I have had superior continental breakfasts at Motel 6. In retrospect, I would have stayed 1 night for the historical experience, but definately not more. Too bad really. The Inn is well located. A little cosmetic maintenance and friendlier staff would make it a great place.
