We stayed at the Inn for one night. We had a nice dinner with a couple of drinks, after dinner we enjoyed the songs and key boarding of a cute mature couple. They're locals who have entertained for years. Several others finished dinner and enjoyed the old time songs. It was quite charming and we felt like locals in an old Inn. The renovation of the Inn could have been better...The bed was indeed uncomfortable at best and the heat never, I do repeat never came up in the room. Breakfast was supposed to begin at seven am, it was closer to 7:45. We had a full day and would have enjoyed a more prompt start. We assumed(yes, I know)the temperature would be warmer down stairs. We were wrong, by the time we finished breakfast we were chilled to the bone. Several times, we asked to have the heat turned up(there are no thermostates in the rooms)but were told the heat was on and in an old building it takes a while, a while never came. There was also no sound from a furnace, I lived in a very old large home as a child, the furnace was our background noise and if an old house is kept warm-it stays warm. The hum of the furnace was no where to be heard. The owners and innkeeper were pleasant, even when they said the heat was on but that is no way to save on expenses. We asked for a space heater but that was a no-no. Not in an old house like that- please!! If we had adequate heat this would have been a higher rating. But saving on heat in New England is not the way to economize. The plates were also cold, it takes nothing but forethought to heat the plates while making breakfast. Also, the orange juice came directly from the bar, bar juice is not what should be served at an Inn for breakfast. Attention to small details such as heat and quality of food/drinks is expected when the Inn advertizes itself to be a cut above. The owners seem very pleasant, hopefully they'll realize it's the little things that make a stay great or less than great.
