THE BAD NEWS....We had made reservations for this visit. It was a Xmas gift from our children. We scanned the web site to see what to expect and it sounded great. The web site suggested checking in after 3pm. We arrived at about 4:30pm. The Inn appeared closed. As we got out of our car to check it out we were met, on the other side of the door by a women who was yelling at us not to park there. We had to yell back that we were guests there. She opened the door, reminded we could not park there and handed us an envelope stuck to the door. She said that was our room information and told us where to park out back. At this point, if we did not have the prepaid gift certificate,
I would have turned around and left. Who needs this kind of aggrevation. I asked if we could drop our stuff and then drive out back whick she finally agreed to. We came in the back door and she directed us to a stairway and we asked her which room. She said it was on our info sheet. It was not. She finally looked it up. It was on the 3rd floor.. We went up and found our room. Discovered no hot water. We decided to go down to the tavern for a drink and a meal. Before entering the tavern, we found hostile host and told her about the hot water. Her reply was so helpful..she said, "Oh, we have hot water down here". Don't you love it? I strongly suggested we will have hot water by the AM. She made no comment. .After our tavern visit, we headed for the dining area and were yelled at for trying to go in without her showing us a table. She did accomplish that without incident....Barely.
GOOD NEWS. The Inn is very New Hampshire, purposely retaining that decor which we enjoy. The tavern was very nice, good servers and entertainment. The food was very good. WED NITES are 2 for 1 prices and they do not scimp. Choices were excellant.
If you can avoid the hostess, you will have a great time.
