This was our 2nd trip to Whitneye's for an anniversary stay. Love everything about it from the amazing theme rooms to the Shovel Handle Pub to the mountain views with the horses runing. We aksed to stay an additional night and were upgraded to a suite which was awesome. We will come back again and again!!!

“Best Friend's Bar and Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2011

My family and I (party of 8) stayed at Whitney's Inn for two nights, Friday thru Sunday and had the absolute best time. The Inn felt like we were at our Best Friend's house. We were completely comfortable, feeling at home, energized, well rested and had a blast. Besides snowmobiling and snow shoeing, we spent a good amount of time at the Inn relaxing on the couch in front of the fire or at the Shovel Handle Pub, which is attached to the Inn. No matter where we went, we felt completely comfortable and welcome to go wherever we wanted. The staff was unbelievable and Don, the owner/inn keeper was out of this world helpful.

“Both Lodge and B&B”

Every fall I head to Whitney's Inn with a group of girlfriends for a long weekend of wine, friendship and scrapbooking. Once again, the Whitney's staff rolled out the red carpet to make us feel as comfortable as home (without the kids!). I have friends who like a lodge and those who like a bed & breakfast and they were all in luck. Whitney's offers the best of both worlds in a clean and renovated space. If you like pub food, you don't even need to head to town for dinner. We've done both and found the adjacent Shovel Handel Pub does a great job. Be sure to get a seat next to the roaring fire place and tell them the girls from Ipswich sent you!

“Amazing wedding venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2010

My husband and I had our wedding at Whitney's Inn on 10/30/10. The entire wedding- planning, day-of, post-wedding breakfast- was all absolutely amazing! All of our family and friends came from out of town for the weekend and stayed at the Inn (overflow guests stayed at the Whitney's Innkeeper's other property, The Inn at Jackson). Nothing but praises from my family, who can often be a tough crowd. Don, the Innkeeper, and Michelle, the Event Coordinater, did an exceptional job on everything. They made everything so easy for us every step of the way. Seammus, the chef, is a master- unlike a lot of other weddings I've been to the last few years, the food did not taste like it was mass produced for 100+ people. It was so delicious!

The Inn itself is beautiful- its super cozy, with fireplaces in the lobby, dining room, pub, and a lot of the rooms. They put fresh baked cookies and cider out in the lobby in the afternoon. It was all of those little things that make Whitney's stand out.

The Shovel Handle Pub (the restaurant attached to the Inn) is gorgeous! It used to be a barn that has been converted into a restaurant but has kept its rustic charm. Its decorated with white lights and candles everywhere- just beautiful!

It also doesn't hurt that Don and Michelle are both nice, easy going, and hilarious!

Finally, I want to point out that this place is a steal for what you get! The venue fee is considerably less than other venues in the White Mts. The food is reasonably priced, especially given the quality of the food. The complimentary breakfast is PERFECT. And the level of service from Don, Michelle, and the entire staff is definitely above and beyond what you would get anywhere else. They totally know how to throw a great party but are not a "wedding factory" like some wedding venues.

I would, without a doubt, recommend Whitney's Inn- whether you are looking to have a wedding, get away for a romantic weekend, or do some leaf peeping/skiing. My husband and I could not have been happier with our wedding at Whitney's and we will definitely be back to celebrate our one year anniversary, if not sooner!

“Some things we loved, others that disappoint”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2010

Whitneys Inn is a difficult one to review as there is so much right about the place but a few things that really matter that are not. First the location is lovely, just out of the village of Jackson (not really walking distance for a meal) in lovely surroundings. The gardens are relaxing and they have a small lake with canoes, you can also fish. The common rooms are lovely, very clean, well furnished, plenty of places to sit and a free computer for the internet. Check in was ok, bit strange, no real welcome and we weren’t told where the room was until I asked, but we were helped with the luggage. The problems are the rooms themselves. We choose our king-size room No. 12 from their website and although it has the items of furniture pictured it does not have anywhere near the space (see our picture – we took this from the very farthest corner and couldn’t get any more of the room in shot) very clever use of wide angle lens is used in all rooms. The room was very dusty and bizarrely it seems whoever bought curtains made an error of about a foot short on each one as no curtains cover the windows when closed. Bathroom is so tiny you can’t move and there were four hairs in the bath which most certainly weren’t ours. Huge amount of noise from the kitchens below this room, you can hear actual conversations, banging, clattering and singing. We did request a move and were given the option on the second night when available, our next room (15) was much bigger (not as per their photos but compared to our first) still felt dusty generally though and 7 dead flies on the windowsill. Also a hate of mine a plastic waterproof mattress cover. In addition, neither room had proper tv reception – you had to watch through the snow. Breakfast was good, clean room with a fire and lovely views, help yourself to tea, coffee and cereals and a choice of items from the menu freshly cooked which were lovely. To sum up I find it hard to recommend this place, some things are very right about it and some not, it wouldn’t take much to make it lovely just a few simple changes and a bit of attention to detail.
