“Perfect Inn for White Mountain Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We had a wonderful experience at the Whitney's Inn. It was exactly what we were looking for. The setting is romantic and fun, tucked away in Jackson at the base of Black Mountain. We had a blast on the mountain and skied back to our room. We had a delicious dinner at the neighboring Shovel Handle Pub and Restaurant, then lounged in our cozy, comfortable room. The breakfast dining room is beautiful with an inviting, inexpensive menu. We stayed in the main lodge and enjoyed the convenience of the amenities. With families comfortably strolling around the property with a gorgeous view of the mountain in the backdrop we feel that we found a true gem. I have already recommended the Whitney to all my friends! Can't wait to go back!

“Would not return”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Booked three rooms,#7,19,and,20 to attend a wedding nearby. Definitely not a positive experience overall. First a couple of nice things; inviting common area, good location, pet friendly room, and nice breakfast. Now for the negatives...The parking lot was an icy skating rink with no parking. I had a broken ankle and there was no handicapped space and no safe path to check in or to my room, # 20. Edge of lot was a frozen mound of snow which I had to navigate over, again no pathway. Checked in at 3:00-afternoon cookies gone. On site pub next door was supposed to close at 10 but the music blared into my room until almost midnight. Sounded Iike I was in the bar. Finally quiet at midnight until snow sculpting machines started at 6 am. Almost no sleep at all. Bathroom was miniscule, one person could barely fit. Heat was either excessive or on-existent. Don't mind rustic but all rooms were dark and dreary. Have pet friendly rooms but absolutely nowhere that isn't dangerously icy to walk dogs. This place was not exactly cheap either.

Spoke to owner next day, and his response was simply, "Sorry that you didn't have a good time."
Unacceptable.

Room Tip: Stay away from 19 and 20 for sure even though they are the only pet friendly rooms.

“comfortable classy mountain lodge”

This is everything other Inns are not....family focused, classy comfort, lodge-like lounging, wonderfully woodsy. Not drowning in antique lace and grandma's forgotten treasures. We loved the Shovel Handle pub next door with live evening entertainment and good food. We were hoping for a snowstorm to have us stranded there but nonetheless, our holiday family get away was classic, unassuming, and back-to-the basics. We stayed in the rooftop cottage, with plenty of space for five; our eleven yr old still enjoyed sneaking down to the Inn's living room for a movie, a cookie and a cup of hot cocoa with other young pj-clad guests. Full cooked to order Breakfast was lovely. Location is perfect- convenient to trails, sleigh rides, and restaurants yet far from the commercial trap of North Conway. While one could comment on minor shortcomings, I like my guests to overlook these in my own home and instead focus on the overall uniqueness and positive experience.

Room Tip: Many options. we liked rooftop cottage in lieu of seperate structure so we didn't have to bundle...

“Wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

I have stayed at Whitney's Inn on three separate occasions, one being my wedding in September, and had an absolutely wonderful experience each time. If you want to stay in an inviting, gorgeous place with staff that are genuine, friendly, and always helpful, book at the Whitney's Inn immediately. The Shovel Handle Pub is amazing, a wonderful place to eat and an unrivaled space for a wedding reception. Getting married at Whitney's Inn was better than I ever could have imagined. The setting, rooms, Pub, everything was flawless. Everyone in attendance had a great time and loved the space. I have nothing bad to say. My husband and I will return for many years to come, and I can't wait!

Room Tip: All rooms are unique and beautifully designed. You can't go wrong!

“Ok Place for a short stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

My Wife and I have been touring New England this fall and booked this Inn from the website.
Positives:
polite staff, very welcoming, afternoon snacks a nice touch and cosy reception area on arrival.
comfortable bed.

Not So positive:
Cleanliness could be better, dead flies in room in abundance on arrival.
Small rooms, we stayed in 12, obviously photgraphed with a wide angled lens.
Tiny bathroom and bath
Curtains very flimsy and did not fit the windows

Overall I would think there are better places to stay, although Jackson and the surrounding area is beautiful.
