“Nice little old-school Seafront Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

I have to say my wife and I are really confused about the bad reviews. We found the location to be perfect and the place to be nice. Maybe we had a newer room, but it was clean and the bed was more comfortable than many European places we have stayed.

The Moulton is a classic (yes that means old) seafront hotel. The rooms are small and the tiny little ensuite has been stuck into the room. Not really any other options unless you wanted to tear the place down and start over (which would be sad) or give up more room space.

The Romanian service crew was fantastic. I never met the owner but we did speak with him on the phone a couple times and he really seemed pleasant enough.

The location was the best part. Right in the middle of the Seafood Festival and walking distance to multiple pubs. We sat on our reasonably sized balcony and ate / drank several times, and watching the fireworks from there was really one of the highlights of the weekend.

The staff and management were friendly and very helpful. Also we were located right in the middle of all the amusements. The motel is old and requires work.

“Fine Oceanside Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

We made a spontaneous trip to Hampton Beach with no reservations and a small dog along. The Moulton Hotel was one of the very few dog-friendly locations in the whole town, and the one that had both a reasonable rate and an oceanside room. The owners/managers were very accommodating and friendly, and the room, while understandably small, was very clean and comfortable and recently remodeled. We hesitated to take an oceanside room, since this hotel is right in the middle of all of the boardwalk action, but the sliding doors out to the patio are tight, keeping any noise out. Overall, a great value for people traveling with a dog to Hampton Beach.

“Stay away from this place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2011

Don't know where to begin......First of all the steep stairs you have to lug your luggage up to get to the desk and then another flight to get to the room. The room I rented for $190.00 a night was not bigger than a closet. There was barely space to walk to the bathroom between the end of the beds and the dresser. No seats in the room. If you wanted to sit it had to be on the bed. The bathroom was so small that your knees literally hit the wall when you sat down! There was no place to sit your luggage and no place to hang your clothes up. The parking was a block away and it had only room for about 6 cars. If you didn't get a spot there you had to go to the municipal lot that was 3 blocks away. The carpeting was old and dingy. I am handicapped and told the person when I called to make the reservations and they never told me of all the inconveniences I would encounter when I arrived. Thank goodness I was with my grown grand daughters. This was our first time to Hampton Beach. We will go back but never to this hotel.
