Stonybrook Motel is one of Franconia's "Little Gems". The rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is included and can be enjoyed in the lodge recreation room or outdoors at the picnic area where the view is most enjoyable. The owners are very friendly and anxious to please.

We choose this place because it was down the road from family in the area, but it was lovely. Beautiful views and well kept grounds. I choose the lodge instead of the motel so my 8 year old son could have access to the public area on his own. The downstairs was a beautiful old rustic lodge with a giant incredible fireplace area. No fire as it was summer, but looks wonderful with wide seating around it. There was a game room with pinball and other arcade games which we never ended up using, but nice knowing it was there, also pool table, all coin operated.
We did make it to the indoor pool which was wonderful! Clean and delightful. The outdoor pool was not as nice. Our room was comfortable, fridge, and long couch which was very handy to have a comfortable place to sit beside the bed.
The manager was very nice and accommodating and helpful. Wifi was hit and miss, you could get it downstairs in the lodge, upstairs not so much.
All and all I would recommend this place for a calm, quiet, clean and beautiful stay. We could hear the river flow underneath our window.

Stonybrook is not the Ritz. But its rooms are clean, comfortable and affordable, with free wi-fi. The grounds are well-maintained. The breakfast options are good. We particularly enjoyed the view out of the main lodge room, which has a large fireplace, a pool table and an adjacent game room for the kids. The motel is close to Franconia Notch and the attractions there, including Cannon Mountain, The Basin and The Flume. We've stayed at Stonybrook several times, both in the summer and winter, and have always found the hosts to be friendly and helpful.

There is a sadness to this place. I can imagine a couple lovingly making it their life's work to run a family motel, before it just got too much for them and they sold their business on the cheap a few years back to some newcomers from out of town who knew nothing about running a motel; the result is this place. On paper it has everything you need - a nice setting, two pools (including indoor), a nice pond and a backing onto a river; but no soul, and the place feels haunted by people who once ran it. I think there was one other car in the lot while we were there, so it felt dead. The guy at the reception not only didn't speak English but didn't even try and communicate, and ended up actually handing me the phone with the owner on the other end to check me in, without barely saying a word, without even telling me who was on the phone but just jabbing it in my face. Now in many jobs there is no reason why someone with poor English can't do just as well as the next guy, but why oh why would you put them on a reception!? It's really rude. The room itself was ok, but I wouldn't want to be there more than a night. The place had something of the night about it, a bit Blairwitchy, i'll not return unless I fancy a taste for the macabre and creepy. Why it has such high reviews I'll never know.
