My fiance and I stayed in room 17 at the Three Chimney's Inn to celebrate our engagement. My initial reaction to the room was a little disappointed--there were some cobwebs on the ceiling, we brought wine and cheese, but there was no mini fridge in the room to keep the cheese cold, the paint and border in the room and tiling around the fireplace seemed a little tacky and took away from other very charming features-- for example, the huge beautiful bed and nice furniture, spaciousness of the room, the nice bathroom with a huge tub and gorgeous sink.
We immediately went down to the Tavern for dinner. They had duck on the menu as a special, which my fiance ordered and raved about the entire trip. I had the lobster macaroni and cheese, which was very good, but also very rich and filling. There was a talented gentleman playing acoustic guitar, which added to the cozy feel of the tavern. The music was a tad too loud though.
The huge graveyard outside our window added to a creepy atmosphere at night. After sitting by the gas fireplace, we climbed up onto the massive bed and fell asleep. Around 1:00 A.M. my fiance's phone randomly rebooted making the "DROID!"noise. At 1:48 A.M., I was trying to fall back asleep, but my fiance and I started hearing voices in the room. The clock/radio had been physically switched into the ON position. My fiance also swears to have heard the sound of someone walking around in our room in the middle of the night.
All and all it was one of our more unique vacations and we didn't have to travel very far. The complimentary soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion were fabulous. The breakfasts in the tavern were delicious and all of the waitresses were excellent hosts. Room 17 was in a corner and it felt very isolated. We hardly noticed the other guests and felt like we were staying in a home away from home. The heat and fireplace kept the room very cozy the entire stay. We plan on visiting this inn again maybe to celebrate our 1 year anniversary.
