I just read all of the most recent reviews about this hotel and for the most part, every review is mostly accurate. We stayed here this past weekend with our four teenage children. It was the closest hotel to Waterville Valley which is where we skied that had a very reasonable price which is where we skied. The ride from Waterville to the hotel is 20 minutes which is EXTREMELY convenient. We had two adjoining rooms which worked out very, very well. We spent less than $200 for 2 rooms with 2 double beds each. Why spend the money on an extravagant hotel when everyone is so exhausted from skiing that they are just going to sleep early anyway? The rooms had a small door between them and we were able to keep it open and walk in and out to check on the kids. The hallways and front desk area did NOT have heat and it was very cold but our rooms were a perfect temperature, given the fact that it was about 15 degrees outside. The hotel is about .5 miles off the highway which is sooo convenient. It is in a gorgeous area. There is ample parking too. The front desk personnel were very friendly and the maintenance man was too. The pool is humungous and there is a cute hot tub in the pool area. We did not obey the rules and two of the kids dove into the pool so the maintenance man came in within 30 seconds to tell us not to dive into the pool. From that moment on, he was watching us from the upstairs window which made us very uncomfortable. Nobody dove back into the pool and we were just having fun with our children. We brought our plug-in ipod holder so we could listen to some music. Around 7:30 the manager came and told us to turn the radio off because it was too noisy. Give me a break. We are successful, honest (and honest looking) adults and we felt like we were being treated like children because we couldn't listen to our music. I swear to God that we had talked about coming back but after the way we were approached, we decided not to. I don't like being watched through a window while we are swimming either. The pool did have a HUGE black stain at the bottom which was noted by management and that it was going to be taken care of. There is so much space in the pool area and it was a shame to see it go to waste. Nobody was using the pool and there were plenty of people there. The room was pretty clean and although it wasn't modern, you do get what you pay for so we weren't disappointed in the room. We are Sheraton and Hilton members but were still satisfied with the Days Inn. The continental breakfast was fine. This was served in a beautiful room that did not have heat and it was a shame to see so much of the room not being used. There is a gorgeous bar area and another large screen tv that wasn't being used. I believe that if someone could invest about $300,000 to $400,000 and changed the management, this place could be beautiful. Given the current management situation, they should not expect rowdiness from young adults and this seems like a perfect hotel to have a bachelor party or after-wedding party.
Room Tip: They do have pet-friendly rooms which we did not take advantage of but is a big plus. The charge is...
