The Lodge at Bretton Woods is the cheaper option of the hotels in the resort area, with a nice view of the big expensive hotel across the street and of Mount Washington, if it isn't hidden behind clouds.
The room was basic, but spotlessly clean. I read some reviews, where they talked about damp and smelly rooms, but that was certainly not our experience. The rug in our room looked pretty new, so maybe they renovated it recently.
We had a room with a King size bed, which I like because it leaves more space to move about in the room, though they rooms are a nice size from the start. The bed was comfortable, and there was a selection of pillows and I found one that was just perfect for me as a back-sleeper.
The base lodge of the ski resort was just two minutes down the road, we could have even walked if we wanted to. They have a shuttle service for those that don't want to take their cars, and that is advisable if they have lots of snow, as that reduces the available parking spaces close to the base lodge.
After a day of skiing we took advantage of the nice indoor pool, jacuzzi, and sauna, to sooth our sore muscles. I just wished they had towels right there, so one wouldn't have to go to the front desk to pick some up, but then that wasn't that big of a deal. If you want to use the sauna, make sure to turn it on right away when getting to the pool, because it takes about 20 minutes for it to get hot enough.
The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff could have done a better job. Don't get me wrong, they cleaned the bathroom nicely, but could use a lesson or two in how to make the bed. It seems she just pulled the blanket straight without first making sure the fitted sheet was pulled tight. After two nights the sheet started bunching by my feet.
One other thing I wish they had was a refrigerator and a coffee maker, but I guess they have their reasons not to provide those.
All in all our stay at the Lodge at Bretton Woods was a pleasant experience. we would definitely stay here again, when coming to ski at Mount Washington.
PS: Breakfast is not included in the prize, so you will have to go out. The breakfast buffet at the Mount Washington hotel across the street is $20 per person. If you don't want to spend that much money on breakfast each morning, you can drive 10 minutes to Munroe's Restaurant, it's a small diner-like local place in Twin Mountain (the front desk staff will give you directions). Breakfast there cost us half of what it cost at the hotel.
