“Go no further”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

This is the place to stop. American owned. Clean, quiet and was$128 for a Sunday and Monday night. That's with all taxes. Located on Rt302 next to Attatash Mtn. Owners are Nancy and Joe. Go right now as the foliage on the Kancamangus is brilliant. Playground for the kids. Located a short drive from the Red Parka Pub in Glen and the Shannon Door Pub in Jackson. All of the roads are now passable from Irene's rains.

“Very clean and comfy room.”

We had just left a very unpleasant motel, when we arrived at the North Colony Motel. My first impression of the room was that it was freshly painted, smelled and looked clean, the beds were comfortable and the tv was a flatscreen with a DVD player. The bathroom was spacious with a comfortable layout and a full size tub and shower. There was a common area screen porch where coffee and tea are served in the morning. The extensive outdoor play area was a nice touch and much appreciated by my 6 year old granddaughter. There were several restaurants in the area and the motel is set a bit off of the road, which was nice and quiet. I would recommend this motel to anyone looking for a quiet, clean and pleasant room to spend a night or two. Also, it's a very short drive (4 miles, I think) to Storyland. There is also an outdoor pool, but we travelled in September and it was too cool to be open for use.

“Good motel, as usual”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

We stayed here with my 2 kids and my wife last weekend. The place was clean and comfortable. We have been coming to this same hotel for about 5 years now for our annual trip to the White Mountains. It has gotten better every year, and the rooms appears to be keeping up with the times with new renovations to the bath rooms, upgraded flat screen TV's, wireless internet, a/c units etc. The kids loved the pool and play ground area, and the place is quiet and very family friendly.

This is a really nice, family run motel, and the owners are super friendly and helpful. If you are expecting a Hilton and room service, this is not for you. If you like quiet, clean, family friendly, then this is an excellent choice. The pool is big, clean and has a great slide which the kids love. We love going to the ice cream place just up the road too.

I have no problems recommending this place to others. My relatives have even started to use the North Colony motel as their place to stay when they take their young children to Storyland and Santa's Village.

Room Tip: Plan in advance as hotel has around 20 rooms and fills up fast.

“Wonderful Family Motel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

When my husband and I plan a trip, we evaluate three key variables; location, quality and amenities, and value. We recently visited Storyland and North Colony Motel passed with flying colors on all three criteria. We visited with our two grandchildren, ages 3 and 5, and here is our scorecard:
LOCATION:
- 4 miles to Storyland
- Really close to great kids' restaurants (Joseph’s Spaghetti Shed and Margarita’s
Grill)

QUALITY AND AMENITIES:
- Clean, air-conditioned room
- Flat panel TV with loads of kids’ channels
- DVD . . . . didn’t use it
- Great playground for grandkids . . . they loved it!
- Nice pool with slide and diving board (incredible)
- Picnic tables that we used for our breakfast meals
- Microwave and good sized refrig. with freezer
- Fresh brewed coffee in morning
- Discounted tickets for both Storyland and Clark’s Trading Post that we visited
- Parking right next to our room
- The owners, Joe and Nancy, went out of their way to help and assist us with
directions, recommendations and discounted tickets

VALUE:
- When we did our research, North Colony was VERY competitive on price

THE BOTTOMLINE:
- When we visited, it was one of the few motels that had a NO VACANCY sign.
“The proof is in the pudding” and we really enjoyed it!

“A gem of a motel in the north country!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

Just returned from the obligatory family trip to Story Land (a great New England tradition) and had the pleasure of staying at this establishment. What a little gem of a motel. The room we had was clean and comfortable, the establishment was family-friendly, and it was about as relaxing a place to stay that I have frequented in a long time. Amazingly, despite all the kids I saw in the motel's pool and playground area it was very quiet each night I was there.

Speaking of the pool, this motel has a wonderful pool and pool area which served as a great respite from the oppressive heat and humidity that took hold of the White Mountains while we were visiting. As for its location it could not be better. It is close to every White Mountains attraction you could want and yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle of North Conway and its outlets. Laslty, the price was very reasonable and our hotel rate included our entry fee to Story Land! I would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

...and one last note. I cannot help but respond to the individual who complained that the pool was not heated and that the water was warm only as a result of the surrounding high temperature. Please, buy a clue. Who heats a pool in the middle of summer when the temperatures are in the 80's and 90's?
