“A Very Charming, Quaint and Quiet Motel...We'll definitely be back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

If it's an ultra high-tech modern "big city" hotel you are seeking, this is not for you. But, if you want to feel real at home and comfortable in a place that's suited to the "feel" of that special Comstock era, the Virginia City Motel is the place for you!
Wonderfully situated right on the main street of Virginia City ("C" street) but in a quiet, out-of-the-brite-lites area), this very homey motel will make you feel just that...right at home!
Each room is uniquely and quaintly decorated to match the feel of the 1870's boom-mining era tha the Comstock was famous for. Easy walking to all Virginia City attractions and at a super affordable price. The "backyard" of the motel is a beautiful grass mini-field with beautiful trees and picnic bench. The view of the valley below (and the famous "Sugarloaf peak)" make for great photo shoots.
The managers Hal and Charity made us feel very welcome. This was our 7th stay there and each time we've been in a different room. Everyone is different but all our clean and quiet with that special Comstock" feel" to each. All rooms have microwaves and small refrigerators.
If it's peace and quiet with easy access to allt he attractions of the Comstock you want...this motel is for you. We loved our stay(s) and we'll definitely be back.

“Clean, basic place, friendly management.”

This is a basic motel with clean rooms and very friendly management. Coffee was good, and on Sunday the muffins were very good.

“The best at any price.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2011

Don't expect five star accommodations here. This is Virginia City for Pete's sake. Expect a clean room, friendly staff and prices which are about half of what you'd pay in Reno or Carson City. And quiet... did I mention quiet? This place is by far the quietest place I have ever stayed.

The only drawback is location. It is kind of a pain to get to Reno. Carson City is much easier. Also, your choice of restaurants is limited, especially for breakfast. EARLY RISERS BEWARE: Virginia City sleeps till noon!

Drawbacks aside, this place is well worth the extra effort of getting there. (Just stay away from Six Mile Canyon Road.) If all you want is a quiet place to lay your head and get away from it all, you can't do any better than Virginia City Motel.

“The highlight of our trip”

We looked at most of the hotels/motels in VC and decided to stay at the VCM due to the friendliness of the manager. Although this is probably not considered a 5-star joint, the room was as clean as any we stayed in and we were (without a doubt) treated with 5-star courtesy. The manager was BY FAR the nicest person we had the pleasure of talking to during our trip. As we were loading up the bike to get out by "check out" time, we were offered a cup of coffee. That turned out to be the best cup of coffee we have ever had. We were then informed (by the manager) that they are "laid-back" and not to worry about checking out on time. We had the opportunity to go back into town for a great prime-rib & eggs breakfast (lunch) and do more sight-seeing before returning later that afternoon to collect our belongings and continue our journey. The free golf cart shuttle to, from, and around town was just icing on the cake. We would not even consider staying at any other place in future visits and we have already made a reservation for next year.
