The Gold Hill Hotel is actually in Gold Hill, Nevada which is just a few miles south of Virginia City. It is the OLDEST hotel in all of Nevada!
The entire Staff is excellent - You will be spoiled and pampered by all. Please treat these people kindly and with respect as they work very hard and so deserve it. Have a drink (or several) in the bar and ask Theresa about the Ghost Adventure people. Be sure to sign a Dollar (or more) bill and give it to Theresa to post on the ceiling. Your Server in the Restaurant will probably be: Victor, Jessica or Molly. Ask Victor about being John Wayne's butler!
Tuesday Nights the Gold Hill Hotel features a buffet dinner and a lecture series for only $15.00 for both. Some special events are $25.00 for dinner and lecture. If you go to the dinner and lecture and spend the night (Tuesday) at the Gold Hill Hotel, you get a 25% discount off your hotel room!
I booked Room # 5 (William's room, which many say is haunted.) as a belated 18th Anniversary. I really wanted to stay in Rose's room, Room # 4, but her room is usually booked way in advance. Room 5 is beautiful and I've never stayed in a cleaner place!
While I wish I could report that William did come to visit us, unfortunately he either didn't or I slept through it. Room 5 has a great balcony so you may enjoy the beautiful sunrise, watch the moon or listen to the howl of coyotes at night.
The continental breakfast is great - We enjoyed ours yesterday morning on the deck outside, enjoying the sunshine and quiet.
If you REALLY have guts, rent the Miner's Cabin. That's all I will say... Ask the Ghost Adventure people about this one.
Bill and Carol have created the perfect HISTORIC paradise at The Gold Hill Hotel. I hope the new owners, Comstock Mining, Inc. keep everything exactly the way it is.
The only unpleasant part of the entire experience of the Gold Hill Hotel is leaving... I so wish I could live there. Tell them Tara from Reno sent you!
Room Tip: I personally love the old original wing. Remember the rooms are smaller and most of the beds in this...
