“There are nicer places on the other side of the line.”

Got a good rate for a major Hotel & Casino on the Nevada side of the lake. Some rooms were dirty and we had to switch when the air conditioning made too much noise. The The hallways were a little musty smelling and the carpet was worn in some places.
There is no concierge on duty to help find you way around the hotel.
Sometime is the past they must have lost their gaming license as there only slots. NO table games. The restaurant are ok but of course pricey. The other HI-Rise Hotels (Harrahs etc) seem a lot cleaner and had a better clientele
The "Motels & Hotels on the California side (only a short walk to the state line) seemed nice and clean with great restaurants. We had most of our meals there.

“Off Season, great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

We went Thanksgiving week and got a fabulous deal. No coffee maker or microwave in the room was the only thing I did not like. The hotel was empty during this week( kind of like the move THE SHINING) but it was a nice hotel very comfortable and staff was very friendly and helpful. GREAT location!! Very easy to the Gondola and within walking distance of everything.

Room Tip: The room I had was in the middle near the ice machine but quiet.

“Look around first....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011 via mobile

This hotel has scaled back a lot. Rooms are clean but very basic. no frills. You can't control the temp in your room. Very hot in the winter. Staff is friendly, but services are limited. No late night food anywhere in the hotel. Bring snacks! No room service. Be prepared to walk down for coffee in the morning. They have a Starbucks thank goodness. The casino is nothing but slots. All table games are gone. Minimal cheesey bar entertainment. Luckily you are within walking distance to other action. It depends on the weekend. I would only recommend staying here if the price is much lower than any where else. This is not a "resort" as their name says. It's a motel/hotel with slots.

“Great Prices, Needs Updating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

The prices at the Horizon just can't be beat. My husband and I like to stay at the Horizon for quick romantic getaways. I love that it's very quiet and not crowded. They almost always have rooms available last minitue. We never pay more than $100 dollars for a room and the rooms at the other casinos around there are usually $100 dollars more than what they are at the Horizon. The rooms really need to be updated and housekeeping could do a little better with the cleaning. Other than that, I always feel safe and comfortable at the Horizon and I would recommend it if your not too picky about your room.

“Needs work”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

The hotel has a great location and some really pretty views. But the rooms need some upgrades. The beds are very stiff and the rooms don't even have a small fridge if any kind. I would pay a little more to stay at one of the other hotels near by if your budget allows.
