“Very Pleased with our six night stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 March 2011

I was very pleased with our stay. I was in the area on a business/pleasure trip. I wanted a motel that was smaller with easy and quick access to my car. I got that and more. The beds were very comfortable. Their heating/air conditioning unit in the room had a continuous setting so no cycling on & off. And it was quiet. The motel is separate from the casino so I heard little commotion to speak of. I love my morning cup of coffee so it was a bit inconvenient to run over to the casino HOWEVER in-room coffee pots are coming soon. Also coming soon is free internet. I paid 5.95 for 24 hours of continuous usage. The location of our room had a view of the beautiful Sparks Marina. If it hadn't been so chilly, I think I would have walked the two mile marina walking path. I would definitely stay here again.

“The casino associated with the hotel is a smoker's paradise / a non-smoker's coffin!”

This review is primarily aimed at the casino. I realize casinos and smokers go "hand in hand' like "peas and carrots". This casino takes the cake! I was hard pressed to find a player that didn't have a cigarette between the fingers or in the mouth. They should offer a gas mask for those guests who don't smoke. Or at least have a warning sign posted at the door that reads "enter at your own risk for throat and lung cancer". I played for about an hour and couldn't stand it any more. I had to leave. After returning to the hotel room, I had to change my clothing which was saturated with the smell of cigarettes. If you are a smoker and want to shorten your lifespan, make this your destination.

“Just OK”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2010

You have to register in a VERY smokey Casino/hotel across the parking lot from Casino. You have to give them a deposit even though you have already paid. They give you the remote to the TV when they give you the keys. (What does that tell you???)
The entrance way in the Hotel had very dirty carpet. The carpet in the room looked fairly new but had not been vacuum since who knows when. There was NO alarm clock, No hairdryer, did have a frig-which was nice , No coffee maker. We had a king size bed, which was comfortable and nice sheets & cover--that was a plus. The bathroom was small but clean. The TV was a new flat screen nice size.
You hear a lot of car/truck noisy throughout the night-there is a rather large truck stop next to the casino, plus the people using the casino is also using the hotel's parking lot.
Did not like checking out--you had to go back into the casino and take your remote but they would not give me a receipt for my deposit. I did not like that--I like having a receipt for everything when I travel--even if it is a 0 balance.
This hotel is just OK for one night--maybe. The price is good but the star level should be a one---maybe a 2 if they would clean up the carpet and make it more appealing.

“You Get What You Pay For”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2010

I went to the Reno Jazz Festival-- this hotel is not super close to the University, but within 10 minutes. It's cheap so don't expect royal treatment. The check-in process was very long, even thought I arrived late around 2am. When we checked in the clerk told us they were out of TV remotes; the clerk also forgot to imprint my credit card so after I got to my room she called and asked if I would come back down-- I didn't come back down until the next morning since it was so late-- she should have waited until morning to call since I was staying for 3 days! She also did not activate my room key card for 3 days, so on the 2nd day the key didn't work and I had to go back to the front desk to get it reactivated, which was quite annoying. Otherwise this place is pretty cool. I MIGHT come back next year, but I will definitely shop around first.

“Lodging Okay; Food Never”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 April 2010

Stayed here twice now and would stay again. While the rooms are not luxurious, this is a clean and fairly quiet place and a bonus for travelers with pets. The casino is all neon and purple which is funky but cool, and there are enough slots to keep you happy. The hotel overlooks the marina and is close enough to some shopping and a few restaurants. The parking is free and the lodging is in a separate building from the casino..which also has a restaurant in it. This is a place that I would sleep in however, I would not eat here because of the way food is handled.
I watched staff handle the cash register and then walk back to the food prep area and start making toast - not stopping to put on gloves, not washing their hands - just going from cash to food. The same thing happened with the wait staff - handling plates, picking up dishes, picking up cash, wiping hands on themselves and then in between that, pulling out bread, making toast, holding it on the palm of their hand to butter it and the putting it on plate to cut it. I was already eating but stopped for good when I watched one of the waitresses pick up her food to carry to her customer along with a good, open sneeze. Sorry, but this is just too unsanitary for me and I couldn't eat after watching all this.
I would stay in the rooms again but would avoid the restaurant entirely and so my recommendation is ONLY for the rooms and ONLY if someone is looking for a no frills, low cost hotel.
