“Nice Hotel, Bad Service, Horrible Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2010

The hotel looks like it was recently remodeled and the hotel rooms are very quiet. The problem with this hotel is its poor level of service. It took us over 30 minutes to register for our room and there was only 1 person at the front desk, despite a very long waiting line. The person at the front desk told us they charged us $10 in advance for the breakfast; but when we went to eat, the waitress told us the price of the breakfast was around $7. It took forever to get to our rooms because one of the elevators was broken and it remained unfixed until at least the next day.

Additionally, the hotel is located in an industrial area of town. It would not be my first choice of an ideal location.

“Overall decent, don't rely on shuttle!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2010

Nice fine rooms, pretty clean and decently appointed. Not particularly luxurious, but definitely decent. Reasonably quiet also.
The pool is pretty nice...although right off some banquet rooms so you feel a bit "on display." The "gym" is 4 little machines right off the main hallway with a big window so everyone walking by looks in...never saw anyone use it. I tried, but felt too weirdly public.
Lastly, do not count on their "shuttle" to do anything other than airport transit...they only have the one and besides airport runs get priority, the desk help can be a little chaotic and leave you stranded (despite many phone calls on status updates) for a long time! Get a car or take a taxi. The Nugget is a mile away and they also have a shuttle that will pick you up if you want to gamble. Oh and the restaurant / room service is only open for breakfast and dinner (ending at 9 pm) but Denny's is 2 doors away 24 hours.

“clean, quiet and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2010

We stayed at this Holiday Inn for a youth sports tournament weekend.

As other reviewers pointed out, the location is industrial. It's on a frontage road next to the interstate, with a rail yard in the back.

But we had a good stay. There is free wi-fi in the rooms, and no casino, friendly staff, large clean rooms, kids eat free, and the views aren't as bad as some other reviews suggest, at least from the higher floors you can see downtown and the snow capped Sierras in the distance. The kids liked the pool and spa. Even though the interstate is just a few yards away, it was very quiet, on the north side of the building.

The beds were good and the shower water pressure was strong.

As other reviewers have noted, there aren't many wall outlets, and even on the non-smoking floors it smells a bit like cigarette smoke. And the room windows don't open.

The small staff at breakfast (1 cook, 2 servers) was a bit overwhelmed by all the diners, and it took 20+ minutes for the food to arrive. Dennys next door might be a better bet.

“My best sleep at the Holiday Inn-Sparks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2010

As I walked in to the lobby of the Holiday Inn in Sparks, Nevada I was directly greeted with a warm smile and a happy hello. I immediately felt welcome and at home. My room was in excellent condition spacious, clean, beautifully furnished and overall comfortable. I slept as if I were in the comforts of my own home. I wouldn't stay in any other hotel in the area after experiencing the comfort and hospitality of the Holiday Inn.

“Best hotel in Sparks - clean, new, quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2010

I stayed on a stop over through Nevada and was pleasantly surprised. My room was recently renovated, spotlessly clean and lovely. I don't like staying in the casinos (noise, smoke smells in non-smoking rooms, etc) and was pleased to find the Holiday Inn.

Only downside is the view/location. I asked for, and received, a room not facing the freeway. That meant my view was the railroad tracks and truck terminals. Despite this, the room was very quiet.
