“Only For One Night!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2007

We spent one night at the Econo Lodge in Reno, Nevada due to last minute golf trip with my buddy. Trying to book a Saturday
arrival in Reno at this time was difficult if you do not want to pay a premium price.

The Econo Lodge is located right next to Interstate 80 and you can hear the vehicle noise from I-80. Next to the Lodge is a Dennys restaurant and across the street is Carrow's restaurant. The Econo Lodge is a long walk to downtown Reno where most of Large Casinos are located.

The room was small with one single bed and one queen bed.
There is small desk and dresser. The television had the basic channels. You can hear through the walls and there was noisy garbage truck in the early a.m. picking up trash from the Dennys. The bed was a bit soft for my liking. Despite this I did sleep okay.
Sheets and towels are thin and economy.

Since it was a Saturday night the Econo lodge appeared to have full occupancy.

The Econo Lodge's continental breakfeast is not much so we ate at the Denny's resturant on the property.

For dinner we ate at the Harrah's Buffet twice. Which is the best of all of the Casino buffets for quality. Breakfast at the Mel's Diner at the Sands Regency was better than Dennys but was still average.

I was lucky and won money gambling at both Harrahs and the Sands Regency, where we spent the next night.

The best part of our trip was the golf. We played at muni golf course in Sparks called Wildcreek. Wildcreek was in very good condition and we paid internet rate of $38.00 for a Sunday mid day tee time. Wildcreek is challenging course and for the price you can not beat it.

The next day we drove to the town of Portola (1 hour Northwest of Reno) to the Nakoma Restort to play the Nakoma Resort Golf course formerly called the Dragon. This is one of my most favorite courses due to the challenging holes and very scenic surroundings. If you can play tight mountain courses then I recommend it. Putting is tricky at Nakoma!

I only recommend staying at Econo Lodge as a last minute and only for quick night and if you can get a rate below $70.00. It is your basic no frills Econo property. There are much better properties in Reno if you have more time booking in advance. It is Econo property and you do not get much for Econo properties.

We would like to apologize for the inconvenience that you experienced. I do recall your stay, which was during a time that our rates were lower than most other local properties.
I recall that we mentioned the noise situation, at the time that you checked in, due to construction that was happening at the Hwy intersection.
I apologize that there was construction happening in our area at the time you stayed.
We try to give our customers fair warning when they check in.
I am more than happy to accommodate you at a discount for your next stay.

“Keep Driving”

The clerk was friendly but I could barely understand him. The room was small and well worn. The parking lot was too small for the number of people using it.

This motel has seen better days and is very over priced for the quality and level of service provided. Wireless internet worked intermittently. To be fair, the AC, TV, and plumbing worked fine.

I should have kept driving or spent the night in my car.

“I wouldn't stay here again”

I had to fly into Reno on business and needed a place to stay for the night. My friend talked me into staying at this Econo Lodge because it was around 3 minutes from the airport. That was the only good thing about staying there. There was no alarm clock. The walls were so thin that heard a lady in the next room sneeze like she was right next to me. No way to open the drapes to let daylight in, unless you wanted to have people look in your room as they're walking by. The bathroom floor was very slippery when it got wet. I almost fell. Next time I will pay a little more to stay at a better hotel.

“Worst place I've ever stayed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2005

Being in Reno for a week on a business trip, my wife, my son and I purchased a week at a hotel through Priceline, and we made the mistake of settling for a one-star facility. We ended up at the Econo Lodge on Wells Ave.

The bad vibes began before we even checked in; we entered the lobby and tried to check in, but were told very curtly to come back after 3:00 (it was about noon at the time). The woman at the desk didn't even bother to see whether any rooms were available yet. Later, after we had settled into our room, someone called the office and asked to be connected to our room, and the receptionist was very rude, saying "you can dial the room directly. What part of that don't you understand?"

After we had spent four days at this place, a man came by our room and pounded on the door, demanding to know what we were going to do about housekeeping. (Our "Do Not Disturb" sign was out.) We told him we didn't need any services at the moment, and he snarled, "You have to-- it's the law. And I can evict you, too." He then barged into our room uninvited, without identifying himself by either name or position, and began "inspecting" the room, even searching under the bed. He was smoking a cigarette in our nonsmoking room, and refused to put it out. Finally, he ordered us to vacate our room, without giving a reason. He said that if we were out in 30 minutes, he would give us a refund, but otherwise he would keep our money. We did move out in 30 minutes, but he still refused to give us a refund.

Later, we filed a complaint about this place with the Better Business Bureau, and a different person connected with the facility (someone we'd never met or conducted business with) responded by calling me a liar and claiming that I damaged the carpet and the towel rack--which were already in poor condition before we ever entered the room.

As professional touring entertainers, we've been on the road pretty steadily for some 15 years, and have stayed in hundreds of hotels. This was the worst ever, and quite possibly the worst business of ANY kind we've ever encountered!
