“Worst hotel I have ever stayed in”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2007

Travellers, DO NOT waste your money, this hotel is like staying at a thrid world country, REALLY. I have stayed in India, South America, Central america and this is the worst.
Carpets, spreads and the whole condition of the rooms interior is disgusting, raggedy. Plenty of garbage behind the beds and furniture, ANCIENT thermostates in rooms *( I rented 2 for my whole family), they left only one third of the toliette paper for 4 people.
Coffe maker had mold from days gone people that used it previousle to us.. GROSS
The first night the smoke alarme started to chirp and when I took it to the clerk, he could NOT understand a word I said to him, (I took the whole thing to exchange batteries), Ina ddition the clerks there smell like they need guidance on body hygiene. Accidentally I did see their room where they sleep and look like a pigs' pen.
The spreads smelled so badly... People I am not making this up, I took my family and daugther in law 8 people went trough it all.
The elevator is ancient and makes noises like is going to give any minute and seems that they have not maintained it in 20 years.
The stairs and worse than in the communist countries of the 70's.
At least the VERY only thing that I could say worked decently was the heat in the rooms albeit did not controlled it accurately.
Good luck in losing your money here, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

“Not Very Clean”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2006

This hotel is not very clean at all. There was dirt and grime along the baseboards, cigarette burns on the furniture, a one-half inch gap at the bottom of the door that sunlight poured through, hand prints on the wall, a beer bottle cap stuck in the ceiling, dust on the clothes shelf along with a bunch of pennies that someone left behind, and the towels were old, thread-bare and had stains on them. All in all, a grimey place. You really don't want to touch anyting in the rooms. Plus, its in a borderline bad neighborhood.

I agree with the reviewer below, spend another $10 or $20 for a nicer place.

“One of the BEST Independent Hotels I've Ever Visited”

While the architecture is a bit dated (it feels like 1965) the hotel is well maintained and very clean. The hotel staff is friendly and very helpful. A great location and the prices are very reasonable -- even low. I'll be coming back to stay here again.

“Clean and Affordable, Nothing Fancy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2006

Let's face it, for $40/night, when Harrah's is charging $150, you're not going to get a five-star place. On the other hand, if you want a place to sleep that's a good value, then maybe the Wonder Lodge is right for you.

Upon checking in, the desk clerk had a bit of trouble finding my reservation in the computer. It seemed Travelocity did something to it. After less than a minute, though, I had my key and was up in the room. Everyone here was friendly. I didn't find any problems with the towels, so unless you need a towel the size of a bedsheet to dry off, they're adequate for nearly everyone. The television had at least 60 channels, so the kids will have plenty to watch, and you don't have to worry about blocking adult programming channels, because there aren't any, which is nice and family-friendly.

It was a little bit noisy at night, with the traffic, and people headed back to their rooms, but you're not paying for soundproof rooms, so that's to be expected. I heard a lot of fire sirens, so I wonder if there's a firehouse nearby. Interestingly, there are signs posted nearby saying that the area is under video surveillance, probably because they want to discourage crime. I would advise not walking around in the area after dark if you're a single woman--there are a few transients in the area. I'm not single or a woman, so I wasn't bothered, but save sightseeing in the immediate area for the daytime.

The Wonder Lodge is conveniently located to the major casinos--a couple of blocks walk to the Eldorado, Harrah's, and Silver Legacy. There's a corner market nearby that has liquor, snacks, sodas, and convenience items.

“Don't stay here - not worth wasting your money”

I would NOT stay here again. The beds were NOT comfortable. The towels were not even big enough to cover my 5-year-old. The amount of noise both from vehicular traffic and the somewhat transient people, did not allow for any rest or sleep. It was not a pleasant stay. If you are going to go to Reno, spend the extra $10 a night and go to a place that actually has people to clean the room DAILY.
