Having spent nearly every other week in Reno on business travel last quarter, this Hilton Diamond traveler can confidently say this is the place to stay when you are spending a lot of time away from home. Like many things, it comes down to the people. The first time I flew to Reno last summer I needed a ride as a colleague had already reserved a car but was delayed during his air travel. I was greeted at the airport, given a professional welcome to the city and some quick insider tips for a business visitor -not too much, and all value-added- and offered bottled water during the ride. When flying in I inquired about early check-in on several occasions, sometimes quite early, and was accommodated every time. My room was always ready, and if the front desk had not already placed a personal welcome in my room due to my arrival so early, someone from housekeeping was just one elevator ride behind me to bring me a welcome message and a token convenience. The front desk always remembered me personally and would also remember my family in their conversations with me. I tended to leave each week in the darkness of early Friday morning, and usually was assisted with check-out by the same staff, who without being told or reminded always remembered my tendencies and habits, and seemed to have a sixth sense about me coming around the corner from the elevator to the desk on Friday morning and would have my final bill all ready to hand to me (I usually left before invoices were placed under the doors) as I was wished a good morning and a safe trip home and told how welcome I would be upon my next stay.
It's everything you would expect from a Hilton Garden. The beds are quite comfortable and the rooms clean. The menu downstairs is smaller than other Hilton Gardens, but the service is very pleasant and the company of fellow guests is more interesting and enjoyable than most other higher-profile places to which I travel. There are a number of other satisfying places to eat close by. The location is not downtown like many of the alternatives, but the location is very accessible despite being south of town. It also is not as inexpensive as a casino stay would be just looking at the lodging cost, nevertheless this location is one of the most inexpensive Hilton Garden Inn's at which I stay, and the value is outstanding for the quality of the service. I recommend this hotel in the strongest terms to business travelers, particularly those who expect to be in Reno repeatedly or often.
Room Tip: Any room above the first floor will avoid traffic to the pool and fitness room. The back door opens...
