“Motel 6 would have been better!”

The room was clean and the beds were comfy, that is about all we can say. When 4 people (max allowed) get in the elevator it dropped a little and then made strange grinding sounds going to the 3rd floor. We had six different keys and had to have the front desk person come to let us in our room one night. Our door never worked right! Their was no way to control the heat or air and it was over 80 in our room at night. Did not feel safe to open the windows. We had to go to the desk for towels, no soap and we were told they didn't know when they would get soap. The switch for the light above the table was 3 inchs from the ceiling, so there was no way we could turn it on! You could hear people talking in the next room and it sounded like a herd of elephants were above us. The elevator was smelly and the hot tub was not working. We will never stay in any of the Legacy Vacation Resorts again. The people working at the Resort were very nice but just kept making excuses. When you travel you expect amenities, here there were none.

“Old resort but good service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

Although it has been recently renovated, this resort still shows its age. The elevator is slow and old, doors were in bad shape. No WiFi in the rooms but available in the computer room. Those who did not bring their laptops can use the two antediluvian PCs. The swimming pool is covered and the gym is poorly equipped. The peephole of the door of one of our units was missing and stuffed with paper.
The kitchen is simple but functional. There were enough appliances and utensils.
The staff was very helpful and all our requests were handled with professionalism and promptness.
The resort is in downtown within walking distance of the Truckee river (Wingfield park), the Harrahs and the "arch".
The rooms are serviced only once a week which is common in those resorts but it looked like the corridor and common areas, at least on the 4th floor, were not cleaned daily.
Overall, this is a decent resort if you just want a place to stay in Reno.

Room Tip: WiFi is not available in the rooms. However, we were told that rooms located close to or facing the...

this place looks like a motel from the 1950's or 1960's. the rooms smelled musty and full of smoke, even the non-smoking rooms. It was called "Celebrity Resorts" but we were not notified that the name changed to "Legacy Vacation Resorts" The pictures looked nice when we booked this place. If we only had smell-a-vision.They painted the outside of this place and also the rooms but they never replaced the decade old furniture and carpeting from years of use.
The stove was from the 1970's and dirty. we didn't even stay in this dump. The location is slummy, even though it is near downtown Reno. The elevator even smelled and we were not sure it would open up. We cancelled our reservation after viewing two rooms. Ruined our whole vacation we had planned in and around Reno. We booked through RCI. This place should not be considered a resort. Maybe the homeless could stay here, that's about it.

“Terrible Experience Ever!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

Booked a hotel with expedia for the hilton the night before we were to stay they called sayed they had issues booking and over booked. So got us a place at the Legacy...(NOT AT ALL WHAT I WAS EXPECTING) Building didn't even have a sign telling you the name of the place only a rug at the front door. Walked in and was just totally disapointed told us it had 2 Qween Beds there was only one. "DIRTY" my daughter feet were completely black after walking around in the room. Sleep with my own blanket under and over me did'nt want to use there sheets... Mattress was horrible couldn't sleep... Elevator was scary worried we were not going to get out... Had to give $50.00 deposit told us we would get it back upon check out haven't seen it yet in my account... Besides when checking out charged us $8.00 for pool and admenties, which we didn't use yucky swimming pool didn't even want to get in and hot tub broken... I will never stay there again!!!!! Warning Don't Stay Here!!!!

“Never again!”

This was the worst experience I have ever had while staying anywhere, at any time. Painters were painting outside our room when we arrived, our door was wide open. The painters were using the clock radio for music at full blast, cord stretched out to the door. I think they had been using our bathroom. We called down and asked for a different room and were told they were booked. All 4 nights we were there, there were about 5 cars in the parking lot and we saw a total of 4 other people in the hotel. The next day I awoke to see a painter looking right in our window, painting the trim. About an hour later the front desk person called to say that the painters would be painting. When we returned to our room at 11:30 pm after being gone at a reunion all day, our room was again left wide open with a piece of cardboard stuffed under our door and a note saying to leave the door open until 8 pm. so the paint could dry. This time our room had our belongings in it! There were bugs flying around our room. My husband called down to the desk to complain and was told that the front desk person would tell the manager to see us the next day. At 8:00 am he showed up at our door! We were still in bed. When I answered the door he said that maybe he should have called first. He offered no restitution and didn't even apologize. The next day, at 10:15 he showed up at our door and said we were supposed to be out by 10. We couldn't believe it. We have never stayed anywhere with a 10 am check out. Neither have any of our friends when I told them this story. Plus, after all we had been through we couldn't believe he had the nerve. Everyone we have told of this are appalled.Plus, I had a back ache for about 3 days from sleeping in the bed in our room. Half the equipment in the fitness room was broken. We left and stayed at the beautiful Grand Sierra Resort for $10. less per night!
