“The Presidential Suite works for me.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

My husband, our three-year old daughter, and I live in Vegas and headed up to Mount Charleston for some winter fun. I booked the Presidential Suite as it was the only room on the mountain I could find that has a door separating the living area from the bedroom. We wanted to be able to put the little one to bed while we stayed up to watch a movie.

This suite has a full kitchen with an oven, electric stove, small fridge, microwave, and a Keurig coffee maker. There, however, are no pots, pans, dishes, or anything at all really to cook with. You'll need to bring that yourself. I knew this in advance so it was fine with me. I called ahead of time to ask if they could provide a skillet and a mixing bowl for our pancake breakfast and they said yes. When I called from our room, they indeed provided these from the kitchen and they arrived in our room within five minutes of the call.

The TV in the room has cable so we had fun watching football and then the Golden Globes. There is also a DVD player in both the living area and the bedroom.

The entire suite appears to have been renovated recently with a nice bathroom and kitchen.

We had a great time and would go back. There was one snafu with the fire alarm going off in the middle of the night, but I'm sure it was a freak thing. No fire. Just an inconvenience. But these things happen.

See my video of the living area on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSvFuyHfj4E&list=UU6FBkspE1FphCrJAJf1vqDA&index=1&feature=plcp

Room Tip: I can't speak for anything but the Presidential Suite, and for me it was worth the extra money t...

“I Agree with Christmas Buffet”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

This place was rundown and it also had a stale, almost dirty kitchen, bathroom smell combination. Me and the wife live down in Summerlin and decided to make a drive up to have lunch. Kobe burgers tasted like ALBERTSON'S GROUND CHUCK. To make matters worse, the cook came out to fraternize with the waitress and he sneezed into his hand. Gross. It makes you wonder what's going on in the back. We won't be coming back here.

“Great Stay Great Value”

We are regular visitors to Las Vegas. We visited the resort Dec 26th-Dec28th 2012 and could not have asked for a better stay. The scenery is amazing ( a far contrast from the Strip 35 minutes away). The weather was great. Snow but not too cold. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The bar was quaint and the happy hour a great value. The bar staff and regulars made us at home. Cut Above was good and the views fantastic. My only regret is getting there as we would go again. Really no way for visitors arriving by plane to get there other then renting a car in driving to the mountains. Ideally if they would offer a shuttle service on request from airport, downtown, or elsewhere for a nominal fee to make it cost effective for out of town visitors. If it was easier to get to we would definitely add this stop to the rotation on regular visits to the area.

Room Tip: Third Floor and backside of hotel has balconies. No elevators in the hotel.

“Christmas Buffet”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

We did not stay at this 'resort', we only drove up for the buffet. Everything was run down and unpleasant. We were kept waiting outside the dining room while they set up for a 12 noon buffet. It opened late and then we had to wait on a line while we were checked in by a very unpleasant lady who was extremely out of sorts. The food was terrible, by any standards. The buffet was $26 per person. There was very little choice of food. The prime rib did not have any taste. The sweet potatoes were grainy and not sweet. The salad was mainly lettuce. The dessert table was a small table of a few pies, a tray of petit fours, and a can of whipped cream. Two of the pies were sugar free whipped pies that were still frozen. People were hacking at them to get pieces off. The petit fours ran out very fast and were not replaced. The servers were non attentive. The glasses were the cheap, soft plastic throw-away glasses that you would find in a fast food place. The view from the dining room was the parking lot or the front of the hotel. We walked around the property, which advertised hiking trails. There were no trails that we could find. There was a small viewing area behind the hotel which was bordered by water tanks, etc.. The property did not appear to be kept up/maintained very well at all. A total waste of time and money.

“Great weekend getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

We took advantage of a weekend special and enjoyed every minute ! Our room was cozy with its wall fireplace while snowflakes drifted by our window. Bedding was luxurious and comfy. Hotel bar was nearby, small but with a touch of continental flare. Interesting decor to admire in lobby. Attached dining facility offered superb food and service was excellent. Very nice views.
