Stayed here December 30 on our way to Brian Head, Utah. Clean and comfortable, with a nice continental breakfast in the morning.
This is one of the cleanest motels we have stayed in. The beds were super comfy. Mesquite is a nice town but it's hard to go into any hotel that isn't really stinky with smoke. I didn't realize so many people out there still have the habit! We travel with a pet and BW is one place we can usually get a room. Very few are as clean as this one though.
The reason for the 'very good' rating is because they raised the rate for New Year's Eve. Not everyone was there for a party. Talking with fellow travelers I learned they too thought this was the best place in town to stay.
My sister, her two babies and I were on a road trip to phoenix when we decided to stop here for the night. It ended up being a huge mistake. For one thing, when we arrived we were told that they only had smoking rooms available, and when we asked if there was anywhere else we could go, the desk agent said 'no, there are only rat holes and casinos around here.' We had no choice but to take the room. We were given a discount of $10 'for our trouble', yeah big deal, like that makes it so much better. When we got into our room we were a little disgusted at the smell, it was awful. I'm sick with a respiratory infection and the smoke smell left me coughing and wheezing all night, I didn't get any sleep.
The room itself was extremely small and cramped, there was barely any walking space. We opened the bathroom door to find that it was a handicap accessible one. Which made no sense considering how small the room was, handicapped people would not be able to stay in this room. The bathroom was twice the size it should have been, with a tiny little sink, no counters, a handicap toilet with no lid, and a tub that had a seat and a million grab bars in it. I feel I should mention that if someone were to put their full weight on these bars, they'd come right out of the wall, they were not installed properly. Also, the door to the bathroom did not lock and every time we had to use it the door just swung open again.
On top of all this, they did not have any cribs available to us so the babies had to sleep in our beds.
If you are traveling on the I-15, do yourself a favor and do not stop here. You will be better off stopping in St. George or pressing on to Las Vegas. We really wish now we had kept going and not wasted our $80 on this place. I'm never stopping here again and I'm going to make sure nobody else I know does either.
I picked the Best Western because they were pet friendly. They are people friendly as well. Excellent heating unit. Loved the separate vanity and shower/toilet area. Very spacious. Large room with two queen beds and a table. When traveling with dogs you do a lot of in-room eating, so a table is nice rather than a desk.
We are Best Western Diamond level customers (which gets us some perks), but expect that the BW price increases will soon "demote us". We travel 60+ days per year, but in 2011 this was the only night in a Best Western.
Easy on and off the freeway, best gas prices (in 3 states!) for the next day's drive are next door at Smiths - $0.40/gal cheaper than any other in the area.
Nice comfortable rooms, above average (but not great) breakfast.
Insisted on showing "FOX NEWS" rather than local driving conditions in the breakfast room/lobby. I don't care about the FOX name calling games, but I DO care about the possibility of snow and ice on the road!
We had rain that day and SNOW the next (8800ft elevation).
