“Only if you like cold showers”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

When we first arrived a hotel guest was asking when the water was going to be turned back on! In our room we had water but it was cold. What's going on? After 2 days of no hot (or even warm) water, we got another room that actually had warm water - not hot! I thought stuff like that didn't happen anymore unless you were in Bosnia. It really is disturbing that a property that is right on the river could be let go like that. Our room was right on the river walk and the casino bar was all windows looking over the river. Reminded me of Key West. Now for a little more effort you'd think they could spiff up the rooms and liven up the casino.

“Friday the 13th in Laughlin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We enjoyed our stay at the Pioneer. The river view was great and enjoyed watching the birds with our morning coffee. The meal and service at Grannies was wonderful. We will definitely stay here when we come back to Laughlin.

Room Tip: Choose a river view room.

“Really Low End Hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We were supposed to stay here 2 nights. Thank goodness we changed that before we arrived.

The exterior is cute, it looks like an old Western gambling saloon. The rooms are more like a motel, as they are several long building, and all rooms have doors leading to the outside.

Our room was pretty bad. The decor is gaudy, outdated, chipped and nicked furniture, and dingy. The bathroom was worse - peeling paint on the wooden toilet seat and mold under the toilet rim. We did not take a shower in this place. Surprisingly tho, the towels were nice fluffy bright white.

The bathroom did not have a hair dryer, and the room did not have a clock. How long has it been since we've stayed in a room without a clock?

The casino was pretty good because we love the older slot machines. But never would I stay here again. And the price of apx $26 is typical of Laughlin, so you can get much better rooms than this one.

The people that stay here are rather low end, as is the hotel. About 2 a.m. we heard some people come home, the man was cursing every vile name you can think of at the woman he was with. I thought we might end up hearing about a murder, but we didn't.

Front desk was pleasant and accommodating. Staff is fine, it's the rest of the place that is lacking.

Room Tip: Find a good room? Stay somewhere else.

“Exterior Doors, Great Buffet, Great Staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

We recently stayed at the Pioneer Hotel & Gambling Hall while up in Laughlin watching the trophy truck races. The front desk was extremely friendly at check-in (Sam). The rooms are average, but a great deal for the rate we got. I was also pretty impressed with how we got 62 channels on the TV. They had bed-bug protector casing on the matresses when we checked for them, which actually was a nice shock. Housekeeping came daily as scheduled and did a great job re-making the room. The hotel has exterior doors, so you do not need to walk through the casino to get to them. You are also really close to the parking lot, so it's easy to keep an eye on your vehicle or load/unload. The buffet breakfast was awesome. I think it was $15 for both my husband and I on a Saturday morning. They have a large breakfast spread and a cook-to-order chef for fresh eggs and omelets. The casino was a lot of fun. It was not too big, but all the dealers were pretty casual and friendly. The gift shop was nice to pick up any little things we needed (gum, cards, souvenirs, etc). They have a pool and spa, but this didn't really apply to us in January. It's within walking distance to the river walk (it's actually right on the river walk) and located smack in the middle of the Colorado Belle and Golden Nugget. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Request ground floor unless you want to climb stairs. Beware of what they call "Deluxe Rooms&qu...

“Horrible Room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Staff was friendly and the hotel and casino had a friendly vibe to it kind of like and old western town. We really liked the casino it was again like the way it used to be in Vegas. We were enjoying the vibe until we un-locked the door to our room. We stayed with our dog. We would ask for another room but I think they are all the same when you have a pet.
Filthy Carpet - the dog would not even lay on it
$100.00 cash up front pet deposit (refundable)
Old worn beds that sank in the middle(yuk)
Old tube TV on a pole stand but channels were good.
Worn out blinds and the vains kept falling off
Fan did not work in the bathroom also tiles were falling on the floor
NO INTERNET
Very Noisey you can hear everything in the adjacent rooms and I mean everything.
Grounds were not kept up
This hotel is just a bad choice and it is not worth paying any amount of money for and I have strong feeling the Pioneer won't be around to much longer as the neglect is so visable.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere
