Traveled to Vegas specifically to see Cirque Du Soleil's "Love" so decided to stay at the Mirage, which is the home of the show. Got a good package deal through Southwest airlines (http://www.southwestvacations.com/Destinations/Destination.aspx?dest=LAS) that proved to be cheaper than purchasing the room and airline seperately.
The hotel itself is quite nice. The room was large, well appointed, and surprisingly quiet. I particularly liked that the non-smoking rooms had their own separate elevator that only serviced the non-smoking floors. It helped to keep the halls and rooms smoke free. Unfortunately, the only way to get to the non-smoking elevator was through the smoky casino - but I suspect that is true of nearly every casino hotel in Vegas.
My only real quibble with the Mirage was the housekeeping. When we checked in, there was a half eaten piece of candy under the nightstand and beard hairs on the rim of the sink and they were still there when we checked out three days later. Bath towels were badly stained. Room service dishes sat outside of doors for days. Little things perhaps, but together they show an overall lack of care in the housekeeping. I would expect better from any hotel - but it is particularly inexcusable for an upscale hotel like this.
