“Showing its age, but still a great stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

We attended a continuing professional education event at the hotel and we were able to obtain a good rate by reserving the day housing and registration became available. Didn't have much of a view, which was okay because the room did not overlook the noisy Vegas Strip.

Room: Showing its age. Sheldon Adelson needs to invest a few million bucks to buy new furniture or at least repair what is already there. The sofa was ratty and the wood furnishings looked like they had been used to film an episode of a SWAT team reality TV show. Bathroom was immaculate and the houskeeping service good.

Food: We ate at several of the restaurants, including the seafood and higher end Italian places. Both were good, but there was a bit of a mismatch between portion size and price and this was not cuisine nouvelle or tapas. Walked over through tunnel into the Palazzo and had a better selection of restaurants. Had breakfast at Bouchon on the upper floor and it was great. Probably the best meal we had.

Gambling: Casino was okay, but not much different than any of the other mid-range places on the Strip. We don't do much gambling, but the casino at the Palazzo was much nicer and certainly much brighter.

Shopping: The place is a maze and has a good selection of shops but we didn't buy anything. Food court at the shopping mall part has nicer types of fast food than the biggest national chains.

Front desk: Good service and discreet. They don't yell 'next in line' but hold up a sign. An obnoxious moron in front of us was too busy on her Crackberry to move up, until someone behind us said, "Hey stupid...move it!" She looked back with the usual daggers and then proceeded to humiliate herself at the checkin whining that she wanted an upgrade for the usual DYKWIA tactics. The clerk handled her gracefully. The only downside was checkout, where the hotel was horribly understaffed for the number of people returning home after the meeting. Luckily, we were up and dressed early.

Housekeeping: Everything was clean and sparkling in the public areas. The rooms were aging but well maintained otherwise.

Overall: Not sure it was worth the money we paid because the dilapidation of the furnishings, but the good service and food and the proximity to its sister property the Palazzo through the tunnel made it okay.

Room Tip: We had a mountain view which was serene. If you don't want the noise, don't ask for a strip...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for providing valuable feedback on your recent stay at The Venetian|The Palazzo. I am very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the service provided by our Front Desk team members. Still, I would like to apologize on behalf of The Venetian|The Palazzo and our team for your experience during your stay. It concerns me deeply that you found the furnishings in your suite to be showing age. I have forwarded your comments to the appropriate department, which always welcomes suggestions for improvement.
Again, I extend my apologies and hope that this atypical experience does not deter you from visiting us in the future.

Kind Regards,

“Starting to show its age”

We stayed for a 2 night stay at the beginning of February. We have become more and more picky as we age. However, the rooms really need to start being overhauled. The linens are clean and the room in general is very nice (we stayed in a Luxury suite). However, the granite is older (green) as are the tub, shower area and the carpet. I would imagine with so many people coming and going through the hotel and rooms, it would be hard to keep up. The resort fee of $20 a day is annoying, but more and more hotels are charging it Vegas. You will also find if you stay here that you are locked to one end of the Strip (Wynn, TI, and the Mirage). Going much further requires a solid walk or cab. Overall opinion would be to try something a bit newer!

“Almost great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

The hotel room was nice except the lighting was very poor even in the bathroom. There were no drawers to put underwear or etc in. Took 2 1/2 days to get a proper blanket. Check-in was difficult because clerk was snotty and informed me it would be 30 extra dollars for my up grade instead of 20, $50.00 in all because I was misinformed by reservations. He seemed too bored to do his job. I tripped coming off the gondola ride and aside from dragging me up the hotel was unconcerned as to whether I was hurt or not. I made a report and no one even called to see how I was.

Casino was great! Lots of play for your money and the employees there were very helpful. Bathrooms were far away and at a premium. Signs to show your way to whereever were not very clear though.

Room Tip: Do all your bookings on line including any upgrades you may want. Packages are not worth it and can...

“love this property !”

This was our 4th stay at the Venetian, and we still love it. We have stayed at MGM and Treasure Island, but we prefer the Venetian. The rooms are super clean and spacious. We expecially love the comfy king size bed with down comforter. From the moment we checked into the hotel, the staff was very friendly. The dealers in the casino are great! We enjoyed cocktails at Zefferino's bar and breakfast at the restaurant next door (I can't remember the name!) We also saw "Phantom of the Opera" and had dinner at Emeril's Delmonico Steakhouse, The location of the hotel is also a plus, as we can easily walk to other major hotels on the strip. We will be back !

“OK location; crowded pools”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I came here for a convention - had originally booked into the Palazzo and wasn't informed I got moved over to the Venetian. The rooms are big, comfortable beds but the couch needed to be replaced.

Pool area is nice but really crowded. Food was ok; but I can't say I had an amazing meal at any of the restaurants. Don't get the take out from Wolfgang Puck poolside restaurant - gross.

I would highly recommend the Canyon Ranch Spa. They have a great gym and the spa itself is amazing. The day pass is $20 and well worth it if you want to get away from the craziness.
