“More positives then negatives”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2011

First, the negatives: they have been well covered by the previous reviews. Yes it's old, noisy, and definitely in need of a makeover. The air conditioner/heater only worked on two speeds; very noisy and very, very noisy. Also you need to climb on a chair to turn it on or off. The rest of the sounds didn't bother me because I always travel with grade 5 ear muffs. Essential for almost all budget hotels (and even some pricey ones too). Especially on a weekend in Vegas.
Now the positives: 1.The location of course. 2. The staff are great. Unlike many large casino/hotels, they treated me like a guest instead of "stock". On arrival, they had the room I requested ready for me (it's worth ringing to confirm a couple of days before arrival) but no towels. Eddie at front desk apologized and I had towels straight away. The next day, I asked the housekeeping to re-vacume my room and change the duvet, no problem. They also gave me the extra blanket I asked for. That night, I went to sleep while eating chocolate (ooops). When I returned after my day out, housekeeping had been really nice and put on clean sheets for me. 3. The tv worked well, 24 channels all well tuned in and clearly labled. 4. Nice shower-head, good pressure. It can take awhile for the hot water to come through and the cold/hot signs were the wrong way around, but once I figured that out, the shower was fine. 5. It's pleasantly decorated (for a budget hotel). 6. The breakfast provided was simple but nice, with tiny milks that you can use for tea or coffee. 7. A COFFEEMAKER IN THE ROOM WITH COFFEE,SUGAR AND CREAMER. TEABAGS IN THE BREAKFAST ROOM. Good luck trying to find that in a large casino/hotel. They only had paper cups, so I bought a souvenir mug for 99cents, which I brought home with me. 8. Lots of security. It didn't make me feel scared, it made me feel safe. If there's any problems (which can happen anywhere), they are right there. 9. I'm sooo.. over walking for miles, through the "maze" of the large casino/hotels just to get from my room to the street. Here it takes 30-40 seconds. 10. No creepy-crawllies of any kind in my room.
My room had not yet been refurbished. Next time I might check out one of the refurbished rooms.
One final thing: there was a lovely view of the eiffel tower (Paris Hotel) from the landing outside my room. At night time, I could almost imagine myself in Paris.

“This place is a dump, DON'T STAY HERE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2011

Our first visit to LV. This place should be torn down. The rooms stink. They have never been refurbished since they were built in the early 1950's (a guess because of the pink tub and toilet) The mattress was old and worn. My husband got into bed and I rolled down hill. Half the mattress had a white pad and the sheets were threadbare. You could SEE THROUGH THE BOTTOM SHEET. The bathroom screen had two large, 1" X 1" holes. The shower hot water was difficult to get hot. The carpets were stained. There was a red stain running down the bathroom door. The whole place was creepy. Anybody could do better with the same amount of money. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere.

“great location, scabby rooms, needs investment.”

we stayed here for our 1st ever trip to vegas. our first impression was very freindly staff. when we see the room we were very dissapointed. it was very dated with lots of cracks and chips on the bath. we were on the ground floor by the pool. we noticed a lot of non residents use it as a passing through point which for our security made us feel very vunerable. there is a safe in the room, but we took all valuable items with us. we also we weary that security guards patrol all over, this is good to deter criminals but made us think where th hell have we come too!!
the 1st night (Saturday) was very noisy as you would expect, this is vegas, but the constant door slamming all through the night was terrible and people shouting was more than enough.
if you have young family do not stay here. if you are out for fun and noise this is great!! the location could not be better.
the staff we found were all very helpfull, free parking, but dont use main entrance accross strip (nightmare) use side street.
the sunday and monday night was nice and quiet. we would pick some where else next time.

“Worst room I've ever stayed in!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2010

Upon entering the room we were immediately hit with a musty, foul odour. We tried opening the door for a while to air it out...even bought some deodorizer candles to try and freshen it up. The bathroom...what a DISASTER!!! Pink toilet with a white toilet seat, pink bathtub with at least 10 chips in it, dirty floor and mirror! That's not the worst of it...in the morning NO HOT WATER! At 5:30am we called the front desk and were told the were "working on it". An hour later, we were told they were "looking for a plumber", an hour after that...they were STILL "looking for a plumber". After travelling all day the day before, a hot shower was all we really wanted. I don't recommend this hotel at all.

“Great location and that's about it”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2010

This is a hotel that is there for those on a true budget. If you're not looking for "the Las Vegas" experience, stay here. The location was the only thing that I would go back for. The front desk staff was kind and held our bags for us while we went around town on our last day (before our flight took off). The "Bear Bites Breakfast" was not what they advertised or what we expected, but it wasn't bad: there were bagels, danishes, oatmeal, and coffee/juice. The rooms they advertise online, must be at some other location because ours (and every room with an open window) was outdated and grungy. The floor left my socks and feet black. As a last note, there was a very large cockroach in the bathroom on the first night. I had to put it aside as most places were booked solid and there was basically no chance of getting another place. Like I said, location was prime, but that's about it.
