“Friendly Secure Hotel Stay”

We are two women who stay at The Orleans hotel a few times a year. We have brought friends
here and advised others to stay here as well. We love the large rooms with a coffee maker,
in room safe, iron & ironing board., and a large bathroom The beds are fine and linens are fresh and changed as requested as this is a green hotel, which we really like. It's certainly not neccesary to change sheets every night, and towels are changed as needed also. The housekeeping staff are very efficient.

We also love the fact that there are security guards at the desk of the elevators, and every guest must have a room key I.D. that you show as you enter. There has never been anyone wandering around the halls, which makes it very safe. The same goes for the casino, lots of staff and all are pleasant. The floor waitresses are very efficient, so don't forget to tip them well.

We always rent a car from the airport as we go touring and shopping They have the best valet parking, which is very much appreciated when we come in late or in the summer when it's so hot as the car is in a covered parkade. Again, don't forget to tip well.

There are excellent restaurants here with something for everyone, from Coasta Cantina (very good fish platter consisting of 3 varities of fresh fish, YUM, and $1margaritas) to T.G.I F,'s to the French Market Buffet, which has the best All You Can Eat crab on seafood Friday nights !!! And the price is sooooo reasonable.. And again, the wait staff are so busy but always pleasant and attentive!! This reataurant has very good bread pudding and awesome gelato for dessert. Try the raspberry and/or the mango. WOW.

The Orleans has a free shuttle to the strip, or the Gold Coast., which is adjacent to The Palms and The Rio Hotels. Great value as it's free..

The pool in the summer is wonderful, free towels poolside, lounge chairs, shade for those that want it and a poolside bar with reasonable prices, not like some!. Again, secured so you need your card to enter, and it's right near the elevators so you don't need to go through the entire hotel to get to it.

I think The Orleans has the best Rewards program so remember to sign up for the Be Connected as soon as you get here. Some very good perks as you accumulate points, so make certain to insert your card every time you play as points accumulate quickly and can be used at the Java Coffee shop for a great latte or at the buffet for dinner!
And I can't forget to mention they have monthly slot tournaments with money prizes for the top 100 contensants, for the Be Connected members, Yippee. So much fun, we have entered a few times, and what a reception.. Thank You Orleans.

And for the over 50 crowd on Tuesdays, you get 7x points, and as soon as you accumulate 50 points you get a chance to spin the wheel for bonus points, free slot dollars, movies, or free gifts. They are very good to seniors ( over 50)

And oh yes, 15 minutes of free internet upstairs daily. And free Wi-Fi at The Java Spot all day.

Room Tip: Any smoke free room is good, but poolsid view is nice.

Don,t expect too much its tired & in need of a reno! But for the money its worth the stay if you don,t mind the shuttle into the strip .We never waited more than 5 mins.Just be aware the shuttle only stops one stop on the strip not two like they advertise .We did the round trip once as they don,t tell you this on the bus.

Room Tip: Pick a room facing the strip

“Our vegas comfort hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

The Orleans is off the strip but there is a convenient shuttle that will take you to and from the strip. Unfortunately the last bus is at 12:30 a.m. This is Vegas, shuttles should run at least till 2 especially if you are watching one of the shows elsewhere! The Orleans is consistent though as far as always having a clean and comfortable room, no hassle check in and check out, restaurants on property, and not so jam packed like other casinos. The rooms are a bit outdated but not old or falling apart. We have always had good luck when watching their live lounge acts which presents good music. Go early though because their just isn't enough seats. Everyone has always been friendly here and the rooms always affordable especially during the week. The shuttle drops you off kind of centrally on the strip (Bill's gambling hall which is across from Bally's). So you can walk either way to the other casino's. There inside Bill's is a kiosk called Tix4Tonight. You can purchase discount tickets for most shows for that day. Something to consider. I've done this every time we come and have watched different headlines to comedy/hypnosis shows without problems. Saved money. Tickets for shows will always be higher at the show's box office. The Orleans has a good size theater if you want to kill time during the day or run out of money. Their buffet isn't too bad for the price. Our experience is that we like the buffet at the Rio personally. If you are one who wants to experience the buffet options, buy the buffet of buffet. This will save you money for sure! Generally dinner and brunch on the weekend cost about $29.99. The buffet of buffets cost $44.99 and it is 24 hours for 8 different buffets. Time it to go around 11:00 for brunch then you can have dinner that night and another brunch that next day. It's worth it.

Room Tip: Having travel a lot, I always ask for a room away from the elevators. Especially here in Vegas beca...

“great place near the strip”

The Orleans is a large property with a great casino. The rooms are a bit dated, but clean, roomy and comfortable. We have had good luck at the casino. The staff is great. Food prices are a bit higher than sister property, Sams Town. But that may be because they are closer to the strip. (It's still a lot less expensive than strip restaurants). Comps are great so be sure to get a players card if you do any gambling. We have been to the Orleans several times and will be back.

“As everywhere, pros and cons”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Two married women who go to Vegas once a year for gal-time. We like live shows, slots, video poker, people watching, tons of walking, good food and lots of laughs.

Chose to go from Sat-Wed to beat traffic, lineups and I mean really, $32.00 per night and $6.00 resort fee? I can't stay home for that.

Pros: Stayed at over 10 hotels on the strip and nowhere have I had better service. While it's not in the tourist hub, we chose it specifically to be off the beaten path for a change and was not disappointed. Check-in took minutes and the desk is a stone's throw from the front door, as are the guest elevators. Elevator security is evident and while they never once checked my ID, their presence is obvious and appreciated.

Guests get free shuttle (throw a $ into the bucket!) to the Strip and also to the Gold Coast Hotel (not recommended!). If it's busy, they want to see your ID to confirm you're a hotel guest. That's a good thing.

Check in took minutes, desk is right through the front door, smiles from the staff and felt welcomed right away. Was given many freebies/promotions and we used them all.

We don't care about glitzy rooms as we're hardly there. What I do care about is CLEAN and COMFORT. Beds were wonderful, service from the hotel operator was instant and while there's a bit of wear-and-tear, nothing made me gasp. Great shower pressure, loved the little window in the bathroom for fresh air and the maids cleaned the room beautifully. Nice touch of a coffee machine as most middle-of-the road rooms on the Strip are void of those. Guess they want you out of your room as fast as possible to start spending $ but frankly, a room without a coffee pot is enough reason for me not to stay there.

Great casino with slots that let you keep playing. Video poker machines at the bars are very worn and could use a bath but still the best place to get a "real" drink while you gamble. Floor service was quick and the girls were friendly and attentive. Good piped music -- mostly oldies which suits us fine. Good atmosphere with people having fun.

Read lots on here about people getting comp'd for rooms and food and we were no exception. However, this was because we asked to put our gaming points towards anything that was applicable. We spent over $1000 each on gambling and events, so I think comp'ing a $90.00 room and 6 daytime meals should be expected.

Wonderful coffee and service in the Java bar with lots of seating for quiet time to enjoy newspaper in the morning. Gift shop stocked well.

Movie theatre has great selection of movies and very reasonable prices and fantastic popcorn which a must.

In a nutshell, everything about The Orleans was a 10.

Except....

Cons: I would have rated this review Excellent if it wasn't for the food. We ate in every establishment except the Prime Rib place, which I heard was very good.

The buffet: vegetables were brown and wilted throughout the salad bar and limited to low-end vegetables (no tomatoes?). Beef ribs were impossible to chew through and I mean impossible. Sausage at the breakfast section did not taste like meat, scrambled eggs were watery, hash browns greasy, pastries lacking flavour and seemed very bland. That's just a sample of about 25 things we tried. The Garden Cafe's food was a step up but really, that's not saying much. I had a beef dip and while the roast beef WAS cut off a roast, it was filled with peppercorns and the fat edging left on. Meat for beef dip should be shaved and void of fat. All the fries throughout Vegas seemed to be laden in salt and more salt. Doesn't anybody make real fresh-cut potatoes? Had Sliders at TGIF that are served with such flimsy buns, by the time they got to the table, the bread had disintegrated and it was all mush. And again, salt-laden fries.

I would definitely return to the Hotel but would make different dining arrangements.

Air cond: (Room on the 16th floor, far end of the hall). The machine is loud and runs intermittently all night long. You can turn it off but it's too hot without it. They do need to upgrade this.

I want to be clear, the service throughout the entire establishment is top-notch so my negative comments would only be to the owners who may want to spend 4-5 days in their own establishment and eat all meals there to see what many people are talking about.

Room Tip: Above 12th gives you a great view. If you're not a walker, ask for close to the elevator.
