“Portion of my room ceiling fell and no one cared.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

This is the 2nd time I have stayed at this location. If it wasn't for the location and low price, I would NEVER have stayed at this hotel again. The place is seedy and almost worst than you would find in a downtown motel. My room was clean and well kept, but during the night a small portion of my room ceiling fell and water dripped down. I reported the problem to the front desk in the morning. The hotel engineered showed up and looked at the problem. Told him I was checking out soon. When I called to check out, I told the front desk clerk and she really didn't care.

I believe that the Choice Hotel chain has reached the standards of the Ramada/Super 8 management company and will accept ANYONE. I firmly believe that their standards are the lowest in the industry. Obviously they will not have their property owners maintain or keep you to any standards. Again, this was my 2nd stay. Chinese Proverb: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

“Fine place to stay, but don't expect anything special”

I've stayed here during CES2012 - that tells why the rate was awfully overpriced (150usd/night), but it was 5minutes walk from Convention Centre and only Renaissance could beat that. for double price of course. hotel had free Wifi, which is a plus. but it wasn't very stable, nor fast - just OK to survive, not for work. no other option will make me choose a different hotel. Room (607) was nice and tidy, clean. Was roomy as well, it was just a bit - old-ish. but for my overnights - just OK. so - for this money - no way. for a normal rate - why not. it's quiet, 15mins walk from Encore, 25mins from Venetian, so you can do a lot of walking if you wish. just the taxis were a bit unavailable - but that's because of CES. if you're passing by and need a stay - don't have to avoid, it's a fair place, just don't expect anything more than it is.

“A great place to stay!”

We got a great rate through booking.com ($33.00/night) The location is great - handy to the Las Vegas Strip. The hotel is well run and quiet in spite of its location. The room was clean, nicely decorated, had climate controls that were easy to use and functioned well. The bathroom was clean and bright. The water was hot when needed. The towels were of high quality. There was soap, shampoo, conditioner, coffee, tea, TV and a bar fridge. The mattress was very comfortable - firm just as I like it. The wireless internet functioned well. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to my relatives and friends.

“Not worth it”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

change of plans neccessitated moving reservation from Dec 28 to 27. 48 hour cancellation policy invoked. I was told I had "cancelled" and would be charged for the 28th. Room had no towels, only a bath mat. Phone and tv did not work. Used cell phone to call front desk and got towels.

Dirty to boot. Lots of dogs. This "Choice" Hotel takes me to platinum level, but is worst I have encountered

“Used to be the Debbie Reynolds Hotel and Casino!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

What more do you need to know than that? Really, if you are fan of old Vegas, but want to stay close to the strip, this is place to be. Definitely not the 5 star high end resort that the rest of the strip was mutated into. They even still have coin slots (even most of the off-strip casinos have switched to the boring, ticket machines). Definitely hit up the 5 cent Haywire machine, it takes nickels, max 3 credits, and even has a bonus wheel, as well as one of the few remaining old style quarter Wheel of Fortune machines. The casino is very tiny and outdated, but that is what makes it so great for killing an hour or so. The bartender was very friendly and the drinks are comp'd if you are gambling and easy to come by. They have a magic show that is cheap, and a restaurant with the kind of cheap meals that used to be common in town, like $5 steak and eggs.

As for the actual hotel room, we booked a last minute weekend stay for around $50, less than 1/2 of any other comparable hotel in town. It was more than adequate as a place to rest and wash up in between outings, no problems at all with the room/comfort level. It is a short walk to the Wynn / Riviera / Circus Circus / HIlton / monorail. Otherwise, a taxi to Mirage or Bellagio is under $10. Personally, I do not go to Vegas to sit around all day and night in the hotel room, so luxury not a big issue. If you are looking to save money on the room, and spend it out on the town, this is a good place to stay. If you want something nice, book one of the 4-5 stars places on the strip. Just be warned that the 'resort fees' and extra person surcharges for more than 2 people in a room charged by many of those hotels charge is almost as much as the total price of this hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floor always a plus
