“Never Again”

One of the worst hotels I've stayed at in a log time. My wife and I decided to spend New Years eve in Las Vegas this year. I always stay at Holiday Inns when I travel so I have accumulated hundreds of thousands Priority Club points this past year. I booked this hotel only because the Holiday Inns were booked solid, since the Candlewood is in their chain of hotels I figured it would be of the same caliber since every room was a suite was, I wrong.

My first impression of the hotel was OK. Check in went smoothly even though the front desk clerk informed us that maid service wouldn't be happening since we were there for only two nights... no big deal. Our room was definitely not a suite, heater wasn't working, the refrigerator wasn't making ice (only option for ice at the hotel) and the bed was extra small. My wife and I are both tall people (over 6') our legs hung over the end of the bed so we had to sleep in the fetal position... not much fun since the bed is very narrow also. Our bed was uncomfortable as well, both of us were waking up all night long with numb body parts & aching backs. The walls are paper thin, we could hear our neighbors next to us, above us, and in the hallway all through out the two nights we were there. The TV was a joke also, the remote didn't work and it was an old school tube TV, maybe 20" at the most. The hallways stunk, some areas smelled moldy and the ever so familiar smell of marijuana lofting in area near our room.

This place is in need of some serious renovation, I wonder who wrote these positive reviews on this site? I'm no wimp either, I love camping/back packing & race 80' sailboats professionally... this place is one step below a Motel 6.

“Really felt like home!”

We stayed at the Candlewood Suites for 10 days and it was excellent!
The suite was large and had everything you needed.
The bed was super-comfortable and there was a lot of storage space for luggage and clothing, as well as a great workspace/dining area.
The room was clean and very quiet and the staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating! There are plenty of really terrific restaurants nearby and a very convenient FedEx and Starbucks across the street.
It's a good walk (about 10 minutes) to the Strip, but for the amazing room rate, it's more than worth a few bucks to jump in a cab, which are always available.
We loved it and will stay here next year!

“Great value just minutes away from the Strip”

I spent 3 nights in November at the Candlewood on a business trip. The hotel is a short drive away from the Strip in a quiet location and the suites were just perfect - I was able to work in early morning, attend my conference during the day and sleep comfortably away from the hustle and bustle of the Strip. If you prefer a no frills stay over the Strip flashy hotels, you should consider the Candlewood amongst your options.

“A good Vegas alternative”

Stayed for two weeks at the Candlewood Suites recently, and all-in-all I was perfectly satisfied.

Staying here is different that staying at a hotel on the Strip or Downtown. It's an extended stay property which means that it is designed for those who will be there for the longer term. The room we had was clean and functional - we booked the suite, meaning that we had a seperate bedroom, and living area. Having a kitchen area made things very easy in terms of catering for ourselves, and the in-house convenience store was useful on occasion, although you could get items cheaper by venturing out to nearby grocery stores. Internet access was free, and of reasonable speed though it could be improved. For coffee loving folks, there is a Starbucks across the street, but the in-house store has free coffee if you don't want to go that far.

Facilities like the (free) on-site laundry were also appreciated, meaning that you could have fresh clothes any time. There is a computer in the lobby if you need quick net access and/or to print boarding passes etc which is a nice touch. Staff were always friendly and willing to assist at any hour with obtaining room supplies from fresh linens to detergent for the dishwasher. Being an extended stay property, housekeeping only comes once a week, so you will have to "maintain" your room yourself for the most part - but that suited us just fine as we tended to sleep/be out at odd hours and didn't wish to be disturbed by housekeeping knocking at the door each morning.

The location is good - not too far from the Strip, with downtown accessible via transit lines and McCarran airport quite close. There are malls close by if you want to shop (from clothing to groceries) and Terrible's is just across the street if you feel the urge to gamble!

It's not glamourous, it's not glitzy - it's not very Vegas at all. And that's not a criticism. I've stayed on the Strip and stayed Downtown before when in Vegas, but I didn't need that on this visit. I needed somewhere I could come and go as I pleased, and not be disturbed when I had to work. The property is quite generic in a way - but that makes it perfectly functional and suited to what I needed.

I'd certainly consider this hotel again.

“Nice Hotel, a great alternative to the Strip.”

We only stayed 4 days, but this was still a better choice than a regular hotel. After being on the road in California, this was a great place to relax, get your clothes washed and sort those suitcases.
The room (suite) was extreemly large, though the decor was a bit tired. The TV was naff, but who watches TV in Vegas ? The on site laundry was a godsend, and you were just round the corner from loads of 'normal' shops - not the overpriced glitz of the strip.
I would only recommend this hotel to those with a car, as it's too far to walk to the strip, but you can drive there in 5 mins and all the hotels let you park for free. All in all a nice place to stay, and by UK standards - cheap as chips !
