“It's being renvotated but overall was great value and ammenities”

My husband had stayed here before but my only other trips to Vegas, we stayed at the Excalibur. I really enjoyed this site - it was in walking distance to great restaurants and Terribles Casino (which was less expensive than strip casinos). We also walked to the Atomic Testing Museum.

Laundry was free, just pay for the soap and it was nice to have a full kitchen to bring back leftovers from dinner for lunch. Nice fitness center and good internet.

They are in the middle of renovations but it really wasn't a problem.

“A great value property!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Was given a warm welcome by Esther and Jeanie. We had booked 2 rooms and we were giving ajoining rooms as a bonus. Unfortunetly the online booking sight hadn't pass on the request for 2 beds in 1 of the rooms. A quick phone call to the front desk and they were able to change 1 room to a 2 room suite. That was a miracle as it is in Vegas before New Years, the busiest time of year. The rooms are spacious and clean. Everything works great. There is even a complimentary microwave popcorn ready to be popped in the kitchen. All in all, one of the best values I have ever enjoyed at a hotel

“A bit basic”

This hotel was just "okay." The location is good - within driving distance of all the sites. But the rooms are relatively basic and seemed a little worn out - it sorta reminded me of apartments rented by college students. Candlewood Suites only cleans your room once a week, so it is up to you to make your bed and keep things tidy. Some staff were very friendly, but some were a little rude. But given the bargain rates, you might be willing to put up with the inconveniences.

“Great value for money in Las Vegas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

Looking for somewhere comfortable and not too pricey to stay in Las Vegas, I tried something new for me, a long time ICH Priority Club member, Candlewood Suites. I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel has an onsite shop, an onsite self service laundry, a business centre and a pool with Jacuzzi. The room was very comfortable, clean and well furnished. The onsite shop was adequately stocked and the self service laundry made this stop perfect for a mid long business trip stop over. The staff were very friendly and made me feel at home. The only downside if I had to be picky was that I thought the hallway carpets needed to be steam cleaned.

Room Tip: Ask for one on the second floor or above as the windows on the ground floor (1st floor in US) window...

“An understaffed, busy property that could be much better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

I was originally supposed to spend 2 nights at this property but cancelled my second night and went elsewhere. I stayed in a 1 BR unit which was clean and roomy and would be fine for extended stays of up to a week. It had the typical Candlewood amenities, stove top, micro, 15cf fridge, dishes, dishwasher and all typical kitchen utensils. The work area was very good and doubles as the kitchen table. The chair was sub-par. The bathroom was Spartan, but adequate and clean.

The help was either very busy (all the time?) or inefficient. Two people behind the desk did not keep up with check ins, telephones and other typical duties. Upon entering the room at 10:00 pm ( 1 am EST) I noticed the room was warm and stale so I went to turn on A/C. The A/c was largely ineffective and the ductwork they use to vent cold air into the other room was a joke. The A/C was noisy as well. I would have left that evening, but I took a taxi to the hotel and many properties were sold out for the SEMA show, so I wasn’t going to hunt for a room at 1:00 am my time.

I tried to get e mail that evening and the internet was down, but it took 3 calls to the front desk to verify this. The next morning it worked, but was hideously slow.

I generally like Candlewoods, but this one is an underperformer. I give it a 70/100 overall and 75/100 for value.

Room Tip: Ask for room near elevators or be prepared to walk a LONG way to some of the rooms.
