I came to Las Vegas for the Consumer Electronic show. We had originally booked the Stratsophere, and a company sponsoring us offered us a room closer to the convention center. So we took them up on the offer because the Blair House is about 3 blocks down.

When I checked in the computers were down and our room rate went from right under $500 to over $600 and the only explanation was the facility fees. I wanted to wait until later when their computers were up so we could really look at the charges. They gave me an early check in and sent me up to my room all the way in the back. Upon opening the door to the room, I gasp, there were dirty towels, food wrappers, and snot tissues every where. They made me stand in the 30 degree cold for 20 min to find me another room. Finally I got a clean room to check into. The room was not too bad. Obviously this is not a 3 star hotel. Aside from that we did not read the reviews prior to booking the room. Maybe we should have.

Also when I checked in I paid for unlimited internet access in my room even though their website clearly states all rooms have FREE unlimited internet access. I am part of media and here for CES, most of us have multiple devices. I asked at the front counter if the charge was for multiple devices, the attendant said yes. Later that evening I hooked up my least important device and then tried to hook up my laptop. I received a message that a device was already connected.

I called down to the front desk where the manager kept repeating over and over, if I wanted to hook up more than one device I would need to pay for internet for each one per day. She did not care what the website or the other attendant said. Non accommodating.

We booked this hotel mainly because of the price, location and the kitchen it offered. Boy, did we make a HUGE MISTAKE! First, they charged my card twice. I called and spoke with the asst. manager and he said it was a mistake but my husband and I were ok with them leaving it as is (we just wanted to make sure there was no funny business going on). Then a couple of days later I received a call from, who I later found out was the manager, stating they'd double charged and we'd be refunded the money. After leaving several messages with the front desk people I never heard back from her. Obviously, communication isn't a top priority. We checked in shortly after midnight on a Friday and were checking out by 3am that same morning. While the location was good you can only turn right out of their parking lot and it takes you way over the freeway. We paid for an upgraded/updated suite. What a joke! The entire place was outdated and run down and dirty. The TV's were from like 1960. All appliances were outdated. The worst part was when I turned down the covers....there was a good sized yellow stain on the flat sheet and a chip in the bed (I have pics). There was also a yellow substance on the wall in the bathroom next to the toilet. When I called down to the front desk (by the way, the buttons labeled for certain depts. didn't work) I told him our situation and asked for housekeeping to come change our sheets. He said that wasn't possible because they don't offer 24 hour housekeeping. Ok, so I asked for a clean set of sheets and I'd change them myself. He said he didn't have any sheets but that he could go pull some off of another bed! He also offered for us to take our valuables with us to another room for the night. At this point I was so disgusted that my husband and I decided to look for another hotel. How could we trust another room was clean when this one obviously wasn't? After 2 hours of searching we did find another location. Now Blair House Suites is trying to charge me $56 for just under 3 hours all because we stepped foot into the room. The manager was of absolutely no help and extremely rude. Made us feel as if we were an inconvenience. And we NEVER got a "sorry" out of them. I am now disputing the charge with my bank and talking to another manager. And if that doesn't work I am prepared to take it up with their corporate office. With so many of the same negative reviews dated as far back as 2004 you'd think they'd make a change. I will NEVER book here again and don't recommend you do either.

Last minute getaway for the weekend, found on the internet and the price was right, the location of this hideaway is to the strip and a good place called the peppermill. We checked in late,were given what we asked for King size bed No smoking. The room was surprisingly large with a kitchen and refrigerator,.'Cool. They had a promotion with the third night free which we took advantage of. Man the staff is very helpful, this is a quiet, clean tucked away place and we could get to all the excitement on the Las Vegas Strip in hustled 10 min. The front desk people Maggie and Jesus were very nice nice staff. We met the manager, who was very professional and Lovely, she stood and talked with us on our visit,, it seemed like she was in high demand because there was other people who smiled and just pointed that they would wait on her to help them. My father and mother in law lived her for 3 weeks while their condo unit nearby was repaired. In September 2009 my mother ,brother, and I stayed for a few days. Now this would be my second stay. I am very disappointed in the negative reviews of this nice lodging. I don't know what expectations folks have but I love this place. Folks, it is rated 2 stars ( but should be higher) and it is $65 a night or lower.
Here is what I love about the Blair House.
Great Rates, check in is quick, no waiting in line for 45 minutes, your room is easily accessible, not down a quarter mile long hallway. The location is within in easy walking distance of the Strip, near the Wynn and Encore, a short hike further takes you to the mall.
It is within a 3 minute walk of the Peppermill restaurant, a classic location.
The Catholic church, Guardian Angel Cathedral, across the street and a wonderful place to see, regardless of your denomination.
The Convention center is just down the street, as well as the convention center tram station, How easy is that for getting around.
Parking is great, no searching floor after floor for a spot and then having to walk a quarter mile to your room. The environment is quiet,we slept well every night.
Staff was friendly and helpful, they even asked about my Dad. The rooms were clean and when the AC developed a problem the maintainence was there in less than 5 minutes. Two TV sets, a nice refrigerator and everything you would get at a room that cost 2, 3 even 4 times as much. Hey, you don't come to Vegas to stay in your room.
Free Wi-Fi internet !!.

One problem I had was the buy 2 get the third night free offer. That was only available through the Blair House website reservation, not through other Internet booking sites. This is understandable and now that I know I will take advantage next time I book my room.
The pool was "closed for repair", although it was filled with clean water and seemed fine, no problem though, I was not there for the pool. And as for it being surrounded by a "chain link fence" this is not correct. The fence is a standard metal post fence is there for safety reasons.
If you are looking for a great value, well located and nice then the Blair House is for you.
