The Bellagio is a great hotel. The public areas are very grand and the Casino areas are bright and well maintained. They were also far less smoky than most other casino areas and were definitely quite upmarket, compared to other hotel casinos which were mostly pretty seedy. Our room was a good size, bright and well maintained. We didn't have a view over the fountains but we didn't expect that and our pool view was more than OK. The location is great, right at the heart of the city centre, you couldn't ask for much better. The buffet restaurant was great for breakfast and we also really liked the Palio coffee shop, great for pastries in the morning. Downsides? Well, on our first night we got a 4.30am alarm call by mistake, which was meant for another room, not good after a long flight. To their credit, however, the hotel apologised unreservedly and gave us a good credit on our bill, which paid for a couple of meals. The drinks in Vegas are pretty expensive everywhere but the Bellagio was at the top end of the range, $13 for a vodka and lemonade. The solution, of course, is to gamble and get free drinks, which we did, which is a bonus when you're winning of course! Recommended trip highlights included "Love" by Cirque du Soleil at the Mirage, well worth seeing; Elton John at Caesars Palace, a great concert; and a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon, we'd recommend Papillon helicopters, they were great. Overall it was an amazing trip and we'd love to go back one day.
