“Great hotel/casino off the strip”

We stayed at Sams' Town for 3days, January 15, 16, and 17th. What a great find "off the strip".
Very friendly, helpful, fast check in. The atrium was beautiful. Even more beautiful was the evening water, music and light show in the atrium. The patriotic finale was awesome. The special 3 day package deal we were able to reserve was "great". The rooms were VERY clean. It is a short 5-10 drive off Las Vegas Blvd, down Flamingo Rd. To get away the "crowds" of the strip, this is THE place. We will definately be back!

“Hard pillows!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

The hotel is great, the beds are quite comfortable except for the fact that the pillows are not sqishy and soft, which I prefer. I called Housekeeping and they said the firm pillows were the only ones they had. We forgot our own pillows the last time we went and we won't forget them the next time!

“Restful Retreat Off the Strip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

We had stayed at Sam's twice several years ago. When looking for a place to stay during the CES, I noticed that the rates at Sam's were still reasonable during the conference. We decided to book there, and we are very glad we did. The laser, light and water show was even better than we remembered, due to advances in laser technology.

The coupons we received at check-in saved us even more money. We did not need to leave the hotel to have a great meal, or a fast one. Available within the hotel are: TGIFridays (we had an outstanding meal of steak and lobster there), Panda Express, Subway, Dunkin' Donuts, McD's, Billy Bob's Steakhouse, Sabbarro Italian, a very good and reasonable buffet, and a great Mexican restaurant I've forgotten the name of. We enjoyed a movie at the 16 screen theater, could have gone bowling if we hadn't been so beat by walking the CES venue. The second day we were there, we slept in then took the hotel tram to the Strip and back-we didn't have to fight the convention traffic! My only complaint was that the hotel shuttle doesn't operate until noon. When there is a convention in town, they should be running by 9 or 10 a.m.

Sam's is 6 miles east of the Strip at Flamingo and the Boulder Hwy. You can't even get lost; just look for the Flamingo on the strip, turn on Flamingo Blvd., and head away from the interstate.

Our room was good sized, our beds and pillows were so comfortable, and everything was clean and in good repair. They do need to upgrade to flat-screens and stop charging for wi-fi in order to compete with some of the much more expensive hotels.

We could barely detect any cigarette smoke in the gambling areas, and their players club gave us more usable coupons to save us money. One was for a discount at Shepler's Western wear, which is on the second floor. We took advantage of it to buy my husband a black belt, as he had forgotten his. I got a discount off the clearance price of a nice souvenir. There was also a gift shop on the first floor with reasonable prices.

One evening we went in Ruby's club and listened to the great country band. They have different bands on different evenings. We used a coupon for a 2 for 1 margarita and watched the laser, light and water show for the second time in the atrium. The beautiful atrium in the center of the hotel has trees, rocks, streams, waterfalls, forest sounds and real-looking animals that move. You can pay a little more and have a room overlooking the atrium where you could watch the show from your window.

This is a great place for families too. There is an arcade, foods kids like, the movies, bowling, and the atrium with the laser show. There is also a pool, but it was too cool in January for us to try it out.

Room Tip: If you want to see the laser show from your room, pay the extra to have a room with windows facing t...

“Sam's Town is a Winner again”

2nd time here and the service and the hotel does not disappoint. 4th floor outside view room and it was very decent size room with king bed and very comfortable at that. No noise to speak of and only minimal complaint we had was the spotlights on the roof right outside our windows which light up the higher levels of the resort casino. Great service from the registration desk agent, Marilyn, taking care of us so we received the free buffet breakfasts for 2 days of our stay. Fantastic light show at their Mystic Falls Atrium area, enjoyed thoroughly (I am easily amused anyway). Thanks again Sam's Town for a great 3 day getaway.

“Off the strip which was nice.”

We chose this hotel based on a recommendation from a friend. When we arrived there was a problem with our reservation (they had us down for the wrong date) but the friendly person at the desk took care of it. We had two adjoining non-smoking rooms. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We ate at the buffet which had plenty to choose from but it was near closing time so some of the choices had been sitting there for awhile - desserts weren't that great but everyone found something they liked from the food choices. We let the kids bowl a few games before heading back to the room for bed. Housekeeping was knocking on the door while we were still getting everyone ready the next morning. If we had been sleeping in that would have been annnoying. As we are not gamblers my first choice would be to stay somewhere that doesn't have a casino, however the price was right - about $36 per room for a standard room - and we didn't have to leave the hotel to get food or to go bowling. Atrium and laser light show was fun to watch. We would most likely stay here again.
