“Run Away, Run AWAY!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 February 2011

This was the worst place I have ever stayed at. My family and I were in town because of my son's hockey tournament. We stayed 4 nights, and I was terrified. This place was unsafe, I was afraid my car was going to get broken into. The first night was okay, the second night people were walking around being loud woke up my children. Then the third day when we woke up the sewer backed up into the parking lot and human feces and toilet tissue was all over the parking lot. No one ever came to clean it up. The outlets in the bathroom didn't work, I had to blow dry my hair while sitting on the floor. They told us the kitchen was fully stocked before we checked in, well, they lied. No pots and pans, however, we did have a fruit bowl. There were about 100 dead bees on the patio, a dead fly and thick dust under the table with a lamp. I have pictures to prove all of this. Tile throughout the apartment and all broken. I could actually pick the tile up off the floor. This was the WORST place. If I were the Cay Clubs and Marinas, I would be embarrassed to have my name attached to this place.

“Was nice at one time - run down and unsafe now”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

We stayed at the Desert Tides for a full month while looking for a house in Las Vegas. It does have some good points - prices are great, rooms are fairly large, cable including HBO comes with the place, they allow pets. It also has a list of bad points:
--Does not feel safe - there are a couple of VERY old security guards who ride their bicycles around the place, but we checked out abruptly one day after the apartment next to us was broken into - and there were other breakins on the property while we were there. Lots of transient/iffy residents in this complex due to the affordable rates - lots of breakins, fighting, drama, - not what you expect in a vacation resort
--Property is VERY poorly maintained. Looks nice from the front desk - green grass, fountain, etc. - but walk a few feet beyond and it's all dead grass and plants, dog poop everywhere (they allow dogs, but NOBODY cleans up after them.)
--Weird mix of kitchen items in the room - two plates, three cups, random flatware, nothing you could really use to cook.
--Lots of broken/poorly maintained items in our room - missing bulbs, broken doors, dings in the paint, broken dishwasher, broken faucet, etc. Nobody seemed to care when we reported this.
--Front desk staff is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY unfriendly.
--Location is iffy too - on a street with a bunch of warehouses and abandoned properties.
--You can only stay in full-week increments - no exceptions!
--Filthy pool with a fountain full of black moldy looking stuff
--"Health Club" is closed. Public seating areas are full of old boxes and junk being stored.

We had read all the scary reviews, but decided to take the chance anyway because the rates were fantastic and how bad could it really be? BIG MISTAKE, listen to your Trip Advisor buddies and run the other way!

“Great potential- but absolutely filthy”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2010

I live at Desert Tides, and rent from a private owner, and we love our condo. My parents were coming into town so we decided to rent a condo in the same complex for them because it is so convenient. The condos have so much potential- they have a great layout, spacious, and are in a great location for visitors. BUT the rental condo was absolutely filthy. There was dog feces on the balcony, the closet doors in entryway and near washer /dryer were broken, towel bars in both bathrooms broken, kitchen faucet completely broken, dishwasher tipped over on several occasions, walls and doors have dirt ALL over, floors not swept or mopped, sheets had hair and stains on them, place smelled very strongly of smoke, blinds were dirty and missing pieces, AND it was infested with fire ants- which decided to make a home in the luggage we had. We got half our money back and made sure the manager knew of the terrible state of the place. If they get their act together, it could be a great place and a great value.

“Scary and dirty”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

I booked this place due to the pictures that I saw. I disregarded the bad reviews since I figured most places will get some bad reviews. I made a HUGE mistake! We were traveling with another family. When we arrived we immediately started to have our doubts. First things we noticed:
1. looked seriously run down
2. Security guard was probably 70yrs old riding a bicycle around the complex.
3. Shady looking people staying there (that we then realized that this place also doubles as a low income housing).

After all that, we STILL try to give it a chance. LOL. We got to our units and the filth was unbearable. I don't even know if they've ever mopped the floors. It was just gross gross gross. One of our kids wanted to go check out the pool and when we went down to check on them, we found a shady looking man just sitting and watching them. The energy was creepy. We decided to get out of there fast! Fortunately hotels.com worked with us and got us a refund. Don't make the same mistake we did....listen to the reviews!

“worst place ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2010

this is the worst place I have ever stayed, it was dirty, unkept and a waste of my money. I have never been so disappointed about a hotel/motel than this place. I do not recommend this to anyone. The grounds are horrible, the pool is not kept up. It is so dirty that you can not swim in it. If there was another place at all I would have left in the middle of the night. The staff and general manager are so unprofessional it is sad. What ever happend to customer service. The rooms are not cleaned and never a fresh towel. so sad it could be a nice place if someone that cared took it over
