Depending on one's budget, the Wynn can be considered pricey or not.

Your senses will be enlivened the moment you enter the hotel, with a gorgeous array of fresh flowers and plants, lights in the trees, and absolutely phenomenal decorations.

We thoroughly enjoyed our three-night stay, and found every staff member to be friendly, proficient and helpful. Check in and out was a breeze, staff at the consierge desk offered great tips on restaurants outside the hotel as well as transportation/directional info. Comfortable beds/linens, large bathroom with good shower/towels/amenities. Wonderful a/c; works perfectly.

We dined at the Terrace Point Cafe for breakfast each day, which was very pleasant. Seating can be indoors or outside patio near the pool. Lovely views, good service, good food.
As there are no coffee makers in the rooms, one is forced to run downstairs to a bakery/cafe for a cup, order room service, leave the hotel or try one of the hotel restaurants serving breakfast. We did buy coffee in the bakery/cafe but did not try any food as none of it looked that appealing, especially the pastries which did not appear fresh. A lady there said they were fresh daily but the cookies in individual bags appeared to be overcooked and dry.
We each had soup one afternoon in the Zoocrackers restaurant which was quite tasty.

We requested a quiet room on a higher floor and were given the 32nd floor facing the strip. If you are a light sleeper, as am I, then it is not at all quiet, as one can hear constant street noise and the Treasure Island cannons which set off periodically all evening long. -We could also hear the voices of occupants in the room next door. While the walls are not paper thin, they are also not soundproof, something we would prefer, especially in a high caliber hotel like the Wynn. Next time we shall request the golf course side for a bit more quiet.

Tips for Vegas first timers: the single most important thing you need to do is hydrate, constantly, each and every day. The desert air will dry you out quickly, so drinking plenty of water will help. Also, I always bring eye drops, nasal spray and chapstick to help with the dryness.

Directly across the street from the Wynn is the Fashion Show Mall and in front of it is a kiosk for the local bus run by RTC, the Deuce. One can ride as often as possible in a 24-hour period for $7, all up and down the strip, plus to both outlet malls in the south and north. It's easy to hop on and off, visit casinos, eat, shop, whatever you prefer. Walking the strip can be fun but if the feet tire then use the bus. There are also 2-hour and 5-day tickets available.The double decker bus stops everywhere while the single bus is an express, which is what we took to the north outlet mall. You still see a lot of sites on the way, but is faster without all the stops. It passes by the Freemont St. area, which can be fun walking around at night, giving one an experience of "old Las Vegas."

Here is a tip most locals will not tell you: the moment you sit down in a taxi, the fare begins at $3.30. With all the traffic and construction along the strip, a short ride can really add up. If taking a taxi to the airport, allow at least 15-20 minutes, depending on time/day. Also, the fare will be about $16 if you demand to be taken along Paradise, and NOT the freeway, which takes longer and will cost more. We paid $6 each for a shuttle from the airport to the Wynn, which makes a lot of other hotel stops. We only rode in two taxis, and the first driver was a pure delight, giving us these tips. The second driver, who picked us up at the Wynn for the airport, was a jerk, who did not want to take us on Paradise and who had a really sour attitude. We told him we would not ride with him if he did not follow our instructions so he relented. One never knows what one is going to get, it's just the luck of the draw.
