“Classy & Glamourous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

What you imagine Vegas hotels are like if you've never visited Vegas before. The one and only downside that I can fault THEHotel for is the location of this casino/hotel to the rest of the Strip. It's at the very far end of the Strip. That's the only downside. There is a small tram available to three other close hotels. The pool at THEHotel is very nice. There's a smaller convention behind the hotel. The major convention center is not located near THEHotel. There's a penthouse level restaurant - the views on top at night are breathtaking. I recommend this hotel for any new or returning traveler to Vegas.

Was the quickest check- in we have every had in Vegas, no one else checking in and 2 check-in agents available. We got the room comped, and got a free upgrade as well. Magnificent room best we have stayed in yet. Bathrobe in room had someone elses hairs on them, however no other issues with cleaning service. Excellent Bath tub!!

Room Tip: Corner suite large

“OK hotel, poor service, showing its age”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I recently stayed at THE Hotel for a business trip. Let me start off by saying that I am not a Vegas type guy. Slot machines? Naah. Gambling ? Don't care. Smoking? I hate it. This already tees me up as someone who is not going to have a lot of fun in "Sin City" so caveat emptor.

I was actually looking forward to staying at THE Hotel because the web pictures show a sleek, modern, Asian type esthetic which I find appealing. I also thought that its South Strip location would be plus. I looked forward to the spa.

What did I find? Well.. THE Hotel is well-designed. It does have a sleek, modern vibe which is refreshing compared to the Vegas Liberace extravaganza. Overall the look of the place was that of a lower end Asian 5 star hotel.

My experience quickly went South the minute I checked in and the sullen guy at the counter told me that my room would be smoking (did I tell you I hate smoking !). He claimed that hotel was 100% chock full and I had to accept his offer of US $150 in hotel food and beverage credit (wait for what happened there when I checked out).

I liked the size of the room I got (THE Suite) and the bed was OK. I did notice that the hotel is starting to slowly fray a bit (the sign in the lobby reads "O B B Y") and the furniture in the room is starting to show its age (dings, scrapes etc). The room amenities like toiletries etc, were standard, lower-end unbranded stuff & nothing to write home about. The minibar was stocked to the brim with liquor but surprisingly there was no chilled water or nice non-alcoholic choices (only Pepsi, Sierra Mist and a plastic bottle of Minute Maid OJ). I expected a little more choice. The room climate control was surprisingly weird and the room would never quite get cool enough even though it was probably in the 40 degree F range outside. The shower had a harsh flow-limiter installed and it dribbled out in a miserly, weak stream. The TV was a CRT in the bedroom and this is crazy for the kind of hotel that THE Hotel seems to position itself as.

I did use the spa and if there is somewhere really cool at THE Hotel, the spa is it. The facilities were nice but very undermanned and low-service.

The food in the hotel was terrible (it tasted like airport hotel food: greasy cold "home fries"...), sour coffee. I really disliked it. The service at the hotel was what took this review from 4 to 3 stars: it was just terrible. Mostly it seemed like THE hotel hired disaffected minimum wage types who are inured to the masses that flow through the hotel. Not once did I see the glimmer of graciousness or anything that would remotely be described as warmth in the service staff. They knew this is the one and only time they'd see you so who cares? Maybe that's just Vegas...

When I checked out, I was surprised to find that the food and beverage credit they gave me for staying in a stinking smoking room did not apply to alcoholic beverages and if I had spent it on drinks for friends I would have been out of luck. Thanks THE Hotel for not telling me that ! Grrrrr.

Overall this place is MEH. It is OK. It is like lukewarm oatmeal... It'll do. Whatever. I don't think I would ever voluntarily stay there and spend my own cash. It certainly is NOT anywhere special unless you like sullen staff, poor food, the smell of stale smoke covered with air freshener.

When I left (and this is probably a Vegas reaction rather than a THE Hotel reaction) my primary feelings were of relief.

“Wow, wow, wow!!!”

We stayed here for 3 nights for my 50th birthday at the end of November 2011. It was magnificent. There was nothing we could complain about, other than perhaps the mini bar was excessively expensive but we just didn't bother with it.

We loved the fact that it was right at one end of The Strip and as we were on the 30th floor the views were amazing. Floor to ceiling windows in lounge and bedroom, fabulous comfy bed, huge floor area in both bedroom and lounge area and bathroom was great too. Check in and check out was quick and easy; about 5 minutes on both occasions. Ice bar was a great place for drinks and House of Blues was a great place to eat; neither too expensive. It was simple to get around from the hotel by catching the tram to the Luxor and then walking along the strip from there. The Mix bar on the 64th? floor is not to be missed; it's a beautiful bar with the most amazing views and although expensive, don't miss going there for a cocktail on the outside glass balcony. Although there is no casino in TheHotel it is merely a walk through the lobby area and you arrive at The Mandalay Bay casino so it was no problem at all. We had an amazing time and fell in love with Vegas and are already saving to go back and will definitely go back to TheHotel.

Room Tip: Highest floor possible to get the amazing view.

“I'm trying and can't really say anything bad about the place”

The rooms are all suite size/amenities. the level of suites differ and are not that much more per. I did my fair share of time at the tables and they were all comped and it was my first time gambling under mgm. The pool is very nice and and laid out well sometimes when the desert winds picks up some pools like belagio will shut down because its so windy. The place is not the belagio or the venetian but its a great half step down

Room Tip: v suite is a good bet
