“Nice place to stay and relax away from the craziness... but...”

I just came back from a week in Vegas, and due to Superbowl weekend, had to find a place to stay off the Strip for one night. My friend and I booked a suite at the Westgate Flamingo, which we didn't realize was a timeshare. When we arrived, the guard at the gate greeted us, and we went to reception. All the staff walking the grounds and at reception were very friendly and warm. I had requested a second floor room and got it. Lugging our bags up the stairs and juggling the swipe card to get in the gate at the bank of rooms took some finesse though. The living area of the suite was quite nice. Very roomy and clean. I took the queen bedroom and my friend took the king. Her room was quite nice, though having the jacuzzi tub right IN the bedroom was a bit odd. My room was alright, no frills but clean. My pillows were laughable though... they were so lumpy that they were almost round in shape. I managed to beat one into a flat-ish shape that was manageable. Upgraded linens are needed for sure at this resort. My bathroom was clean, however it had a hole in the wall, I assume where a towel bar had been? My shower stall door also did not close, though I forced it. So water ended up flooding onto the bathroom floor, which I had to sop up with towels. Not the end of the world, but a mild nuisance. Our stay was quiet and uneventful, and I felt secure being inside the gate of the resort. The grounds as well were beautiful and well kept. We used the Shuttle to the Strip and the driver was friendly and on time in both directions. I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay off the Strip at a place where you can still have the comforts of home, and a kitchen.

“Third time back and not dissappointed.”

We have stayed at other places in Vegas, but once we found Westgate Flamingo Bay, this the only place we would consider for a stay of more than 1 or 2 days. It is just a few minutes drive from the busy Las Vegas strip when you want to enjoy the excitement there.... But for the most part, we just love to kick back and relax away from the crowd.

The resort is located very close to a strip mall with several of our favorite restaurants and handy grocery store. And the suite is spacious with a luxury jetted tug right in the bedroom! Very comfortable bed and welcoming sitting room with a fireplace. Only negative thing would be for those who like to do a lot of cooking.... while there is a complete set of pots/pans, dishes, etc - I would say it is just the bare bones.... not enough to fill up the dishwasher. For my husband and myself, I found that there wasn't enough silverware or dishes to last the day.... so was finding I had to run the dishwasher twice per day even though it wasn't full.

Note that all the units don't have washers and dryers.... but we stayed 2 consecutive 6 night time share trades.... so they upgraded us to a room with a washer and dryer.... that was a real bonus, and greatly appreciated.

Regarding the time share presentations.... when asked if we wanted to go go to one, we just said we weren't interested and they didn't push for one. Last year though, we made a mistake, as after we declined the presentation, my husband said he wouldn't have minded touring the Planet Hollywood tower, so they booked us into a presentation saying that we could just view the suites and leave.... Sadly, that isn't the case - the salesmen are well trained and so found a way to get you into the presentation room - saying it would just be a moment .... of course the pressure is on. Apparently 2 of every 3 people end up buying.... so if either the guy on your right or the guy on your left aren't buying YOU WILL BE! We already own 3 time shares - they even offered to use them as a trade.... but at the end, they really don't want them, so you still end up buying their time share.... My husband finally exploded, and after a bit of a confrontation, we were "released" from their sales room. Rather embarrassing for all.... needless to say.... NO MATTER WHAT THEY OFFER YOU IN RETURN, DON'T ACCEPT THE TIMESHARE DEMO UNLESS YOU REALLY ARE PLANNING TO BUY ONE!

This aside - The Wesgare Flamingo Bay is top notch! We will be definitely be going back!

Room Tip: Main floor units can be a bit noisier as the unit above has tile floors.... We had a family above...

“Not bad but could be better”

We are not big gamblers or night owls. We went to hike/climb in Red Rock Canyon but did venture to Trader Joe's (just 15 minutes away), the Bellagio fountains and Fremont St.

This is a the place to stay if you DON”T need:
SLEEP: poor sound proofing between rooms, lower units get hammered by those above
INTERNET: was very slow when it worked, which was infrequent
TO COOK YOUR OWN FOOD: they supplied only 4 place settings, NO non-stick pans, BBQ igniter didn't work, you should buy bottled water
SWIM/Jacuzzi: the pool was closed by health department

PLUSES
Dog friendly (make sure you ask about their breed type limitations)
Decent access to Red Rock Canyon - 30 minutes
Shuttle service to the Strip, close to the Palms casino
Friendly staff worked hard to fix problems
Well-maintained property
They RECYCLE plastic, paper and glass

“Westgate Flamingo Bay Resort”

The first level 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom(1 King, 2 Doubles) was very comfortable for 6 people. The bathrooms were in each bedroom and was very convenient and large. Had a fully furnished living room and full service eating area. Three 42" TV's. Free close in secured parking. about 3 miles west of the strip just west of the Palms. The resort is very well taken care of as are the rooms and very clean. I know I will be staying there again.

Room Tip: Parking is very handy, no parking garage, so don't have to walk forever. Lower level no stairs...

“UPGRADED LINENS NEEDED”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

I stayed there five days and the resort is a bit dated with some upgrades but more are needed. The bedding and pillows were very inexpensive and worn. I do not believe that the thread count was above 200 and I believe that if it is to be labeled as resort , then the bedding and pillows should be over 300tc and not worn out. The kitchen and living room were nice, but the bathtub was in the bedroom which was quite strange to me. The shower area did need to be upgraded also. My guess is that all of the maintenance and upgrades are being directed to their Planet Hollywood, LV location.

Room Tip: I stayed on the first floor and had I known that the second floor people walked like elephants I wou...
