“Fine for a few days but not for two weeks”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

This is our third visit to Vegas and my husband and I decided to go for two weeks over Christmas and New Year. Due to the length of holiday we were on a budget, whereas we've been for a shorter period and stayed at the Wynn and the Luxor before. The Imperial Palace was more than ideal for location and is its only redeeming feature. I was fully prepared for a budget hotel and this is what we got for the first few nights and it was acceptable, but the longer our stay the more the cracks seemed to appear. The musty smell is the first thing that you notice, which seems bearable until you've lived in it for a while. There were other peoples muck inside the toilet, and the further into our stay the thicker the dust got even though we had maid service regularly. The lifts took ages and were cramped which started to get on our nerves but we were on the 15th floor so had little choice but to deal with it. We were overlooking the pool which was quietish until the construction started at 6:30am each day, this coupled with a lack of sound proofing inside the hotel led to sleep deprivation (other than the self-inflicted kind that you'd expect!) towards the end of the stay and we couldn't wait to go home (a first considering we were in Vegas!!). We didn't bother asking to move as we were concerned we would end up overlooking Harrah's which was a far, far worse prospect! The long of short of it is that if you're staying for a few nights this hotel is ideal but don't bother for a long holiday if it's your only break from the norm during your hard working year.

“New Year in Las Vegas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

As a special birthday surpirise for my wife,we went to Las Vegas for the new year.We wanted a hotel in the middle of the "strip" as we didn't want miles and miles of walking.I searched the internet and found the Imperial. The good thing was the location and the price. The location was in the middle of the strip opposite Caesar's Palace and the price for a room for 9 nights between the 28th dec and 6th jan was only £600.
The rooms were Ok but nothing really special. The only problem was that we were on the 17th floor ,but there were only 4 lifts for our part of the buildingand we had sometimes quite a wait for a lift.
The restaurants were very good,we both enjoyed the steak special for breakfast, which included an 8oz steak, eggs potatoes and all the trimmings for approx £8
The main part of the hotel is the casino, which included the "lookalikes" dealers. Not only do they deal "blackjack","three card poker"etc but they take it in turns to get up on a mini stage to sing.We particularly liked "Rod Stewart" "Elvis Presley""Prince"and "Michael Jackson"
Every member of staff we spoke to,or asked help from were helpful, friendly, and seemed as if they couldn't do enough for us.
The only drawback were the price of drinks on the holiday weekend. They charged us $7 for a bottle of beer which we could get back in the UK for £1
All I would advise is that if you are playing the tables or machines you get the drinks for free and we just put a few dollars in the machines and just tipped the waitress a $1 for each beer.works out a lot cheaper.
Overall,if you don't need a high class hotel with a high class cost, then the imperial would do nicely.
We would definately go back again as we couldn't really fault it.

Room Tip: Upgrade as far as your pocket will allow,as the mini suites and suites wee good, and the cost is very...

“A real Oddball smack in the middle of the Strip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Staying at the Imperial Palace is definitely a unique experience in modern Las Vegas!

Basically, it's the opposite of the planned mega-resorts. Instead, seems like an on-going DIY project, hotel-style.

Both the front and back entrances are confusing. In the front, you have to walk off the Strip and down a little alley to get to the entrance (which is behind the Rock House Bar). If you are parking a car in the back, you will have to wind your way through an incredible maze of a garage, then hoof a LONG way to the front for check in.

Once you get there though, you will be rewarded with some pretty good customer service.
The IP has a happening casino floor, full of young people and the "dealertainers" are a
kick. Check in via Diamond was super-quick.

I booked the "Luv Tub" room just to see what it was like, and it didn't disappoint. A GIANT tub with steps leading up to it (and over-head lighting) is the main feature of the room. Unfortunately, it's also the only shower in the room, so you have to shower or bathe right in front of the bed. If you're old enough to remember "Love American Style," you'll know what I mean when I tell you that the Luv Tub room could have been one of the sets. It was very large, very clean, but a little worn. There were sliding glass doors that led to a tiny balcony which I enjoyed as it offered a good breeze of fresh air.

This place is a real mish-mash of good and bad.

The good:
-Embers Steak house was a pleasant surprise. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and served hot to table. Prices are actually quite reasonable when you consider that sides are included.
-Casino floor employees are freindly and efficient. Drink service is very good.
-Fat Tuesday's for frozen drinks is conveniently located at the rear of the casino
-The Auto Collection is really impressive
-the casino offers a wide variety of games and is hopping all times of the day or night

The bad:
-The layout is confusing...weird "mystery" elevators going to only a couple of floors seem to be around every corner, yet there are too few main floor elevators. A line literally develops in wait of an "up" elevator.
-The entire property needs a carpet refurb. I think housekeeping does their level best, but you can only bleach stains so much.
-the stairwell (that I used because the elevators were sooooo slow) was downright filthy with years of accumulated grease and dirt. It needs a good steam cleaning.
-Hash House A Go Go is over-rated. The food is just big, not good. Servers are attractive, not efficient.
-Stay away, very far away, from the buffet.

All that said, I kind of love it.

The employees try hard here, and that means a lot to me. Desk personnel, housekeeping, cocktail servers, floor operators and even the workers at the retail outlets are quick to serve, make you feel welcome, and let you know that they appreciate your business. They also seem happy with their jobs, and that makes for a nice atmosphere.

And speaking of atmosphere....the IP has that cheesy, Clark W. Griswold-y feel that I adore! Let the Wynn and the Bellagio have their sedate classiness, I'll take a "dealertainer" in a bad wig belting out Little Richard any day of the week! I can get "classy" at home, but I can't get this anywhere near home.

OK, now that I've thought it over, I'm upping my star rating to 3.

Considering the center-Strip location, low prices, and unique cheese factor, I think that's fair.

“Absolute nightmare... avoid this hotel like the plague.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012 via mobile

I am shocked this hotel is affiliated with the Caesar's name. I encountered problems too numerous to list...

- Balcony window did not lock, at all, and was easily accessible from neighboring rooms.
- NO security latch on room door.
- Old, out-dated furnishings.
- A cup was found beside my bed full of old cigarette butts (I do not smoke) from the previous occupant.
- Fire extinguisher panel in the hallway was secured w/ duct tape.
- ...and more and more and more.

Never again will I stay here. It was Super Bowl weekend, and availabilty at nicer properties was limited. Horrible food at the restaurants upstairs (which are a maze to get to) combines with the hotel itself makes this a place to avoid. The casino itself isn't bad, but do yourself a favor and keep looking for another place to stay. I am a flight attendant and stay in hotels all over North America... some are pretty bad, but the Imperial Palace definitely takes first place.

“Great price and location but rooms need renovating badly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Can't remember how many times I have stayed here. The prices can't be beat--we paid between $30-39/night. The rooms are clean but need renovating badly. We first had room 521 which had a funky layout because it was behind the elevators--a long hallway from the door into the actual bedroom and extra space in the bathroom but the shower was adjacent to the sink. The security lock didn't work and the faucet to the shower felt like it was ready to come off. There was a low hum which I attributed to the elevators. We asked to have our room changed and the staff were more than happy to do it. Room 535 had the more typical layout. However, our corner room did not have a balacony, but the room 90 degrees away had a balcony that continued up to our window. Glad there were no peeping Toms! Both rooms overlooked the inside courtyard of the parking lot where buses and shuttles picked up people and you could hear the backup warning beeps. Staff were basically helpful and friendly (especially Ashley) except for one desk clerk who did not want to help me with getting my boarding pass.
