I had a very nice stay last weekend at the Vdara. I don't gamble or smoke, so this was the perfect hotel. It was so nice to walk into a Vegas hotel lobby & not have to walk through the maze of a loud, smoky casino. The room was excellent. I took the advice from previous reviews & requested a high floor (I always request a room away from elevators). My room was spacious & quiet. For once, I had a relaxing time in Vegas.
The housekeeping is good, but know that they are slow and take a LONG time to clean the room. The 1st day, they cleaned the room in the afternoon and were done by about 5pm. The second day, however, I was gone all afternoon and had the green "housekeeping" light on. I returned around 5pm, and the cleaning cart was parked 2 rooms away, exactly where it was when I left earlier in the day. I went out for dinner, and when I came back around 8pm she was cleaning my room! I had to get up at 4am to catch my flight, so I asked her to stop. (she was very nice, it was not her fault since she just came on the shift at 5pm). So, just know that if you are accustomed to having quick service early in the day like most hotels, that may or may not happen here. Not necessarliy a big problem, but possibly inconvenient if you want to be in your room in the early evening.
The spa is fantastic, great service, all the perks & extras you could want. If you go, plan to take advantage & spend a few hours there. They have toothbrushes, razors, Aveda face products, etc., everything you need. I highly recommend you spend an afternoon here!
The only downside is the food selection. The Market Cafe is convenient, but unless you hit it EXACTLY right, the lines are ridiculous. Due to the limited options, this little place gets overwhelmed & jam packed. If this is the case, take a 10 min walk into the Crystals mall & go to the little Wolfgang Puck "Pod." They have coffee, sandwiches, etc, at the same prices with no lines. (at least when I went at the prime 10am hour.
The bar is nice, the wine selection great. The food menu is good but limited. I wanted to eat here a second night, but the menu just didn't motivate me so I went over to the Aria to find a bigger selection of menus. You can also walk over to the Bellagio, which is connedted via walkway.
It would be so simple for them to extend the bar menu slightly (a little side salad maybe????) or to keep the Silk Road venue open. This is a very nice restaurant space but totally wasted.
Room Tip: Ask for a high floor away from elevator if you want a quiet room
