Travelled to Las Vegas for a conference in October and stayed at the Westin. We booked this hotel because of the price; it was significantly cheaper than a lot of the hotels on the strip. Walking in the door you are immediately greeted by cigarette smoke from the casino in the lobby area. The same goes for pretty much every other casino in Vegas, but there is no where to get away from it here. The bar area and lobby adjoin the casino, so you are stuck with the smoke unless you sit in your room. The pool area was nice and all the chairs looked new. The view from the hotel room was a vacant dirt lot no matter what side you are on, so don't go here for the view!!
The front desk staff was very nice and there were no issues getting my room. The room was clean and typical size for a Westin Hotel. Bathroom was very clean and there were ample towels and wash cloths. The bed was very comfortable but the TV was the old box type and did not work very well. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant, they have a buffet breakfast or you can order from their menu. I believe the breakfast buffet was $25.00. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the strip and it is very easy to get a cab if you need one. You can also walk across the street to Bally's Casino and cut through the Casino if you don't feel like walking down the street. The hotel is also a block from the tram station. The casino seemed to have cheaper minimums at the tables then the rest of the casino's I visited in Vegas. So if you are interested in table games it may be a better deal. Probably wouldn't stay here again next time unless the rates were really good.
